Ball seems to jump or hop when coming off the rail

I have an 8 foot Thomas Aaron Park Avenue table in my garage. The
garage is well insulated and air conditioned. The balls seem to hop off the rails and it is much more evident if the AC has been off and it is more humid. The table is 2 years old and this has beegoing on quite a while.
The cloth(860 somonis) is looser ,both the bed and rails as the humidity increases.I would apreciate any suggestions anyone might have to help.
The dealer I bought the table from is no help.He is much more interested
in selling than customer service.I am in the Newport News ,Virginia area.
Thank you for any help you can give me.
The height of the cushions measures 1 7/16 inch everywhere I checked Paul

Thanks for the input

I was thinking the AC would be enough to remove the humidity.
I will give the dehumidifier a try.Thank you for such a quick response.

Your rails aren't pushed down are they ? Like from someone or something setting on them. If the rail is lower then half the ball it will make the ball jump up when it hits them ,,check this <<<ED

re: rail height question

Can you take a picture of the cushion with a ruler (64ths side) so I can see what your rail height is? They are correct that the humidity will affect it a good bit, but you aren't that far away and it has never been that big of an issue for me. If your rail height is under 1.380 I would expect a ball hop situation. Try this, hit a ball at a medium speed into the same rail straight. Hit a few center ball, then a few with 1 tip of high and then a few with 1 tip of low. Let me know what you find. Try to get a picture as well. I will check back in a day or two. Thanks

Ball hops whe coming off the rail

I will take a picture as soon as camera battery charges.I measured the rail height in several places with the heght guage on dial caliper. The
average height is 1.443 inches.I will need some help in posting pictures.
If you would like you can call me @ 757-236-1004
Thanks again,
Paul

On that table, if the nose height is correct, you really shouldn't be having the problem you're talking about, my thoughts are more along the lines that the cushions are starting to turn hard, which will cause the ball hopp as well:grin:

i agree with the persons on the cushions being the problem, not the humidity factor. also possible that the back of the cushion is separating from the rail(wood) surface to which they are glued. and with that said, humidity may have played a part in weakening the glue between the rubber/wood connection. wiggle your rubbers, they shouldnt have but tiny amount of play, and no separation at the rail. and of course anyone sitting on the rails will readily break down the cushion glued connection.

I seem to recall you making a post a long time ago about humidity and ball hop.
Could have been someone else tho.

Ball hops when coming off the rail

I turned the A/C on and after 24 hours the table played much better.
The cloth is a lot tighter, and, the balls do not jump much at all.I can't
feel where the cushions are loose or separated at all.I can't feel any hard spots in the rails either. It won't be long before it will need to be recovered. Hopefully I will find out if it is a mechanical or enviromental problem.I will probably need a referal of a good mechanic in my area.
Thanks for everyones help.
