Balls jump after contact

Had this happen twice recently. Both were medium speed very slight cut and when the cue ball hits the object ball the object ball jumps a little and I missed by a mile. In both cases the balls are pretty clean looking

What causes this and is there a name for it.

Have to admit, I have this happen at times also at home, and have wondered if its me or what. Only happens on soft to mid speed follow through shots. Don't notice when out on tables that have dirty cloth and balls.
860 simonis, Balls cleaned every 2-3 weeks with Aramith cleaner, vacuumed every 2-3 days playing.
Could it be the cleaner used?

This is called a "skid". It was most likely caused by a trace amount of chalk on one of the balls (most likely the cue ball) at the point of contact which causes friction. The application of throw or a slightly firmer hit are ways to minimize this phenomena.

That may have something to do with it. While I don't feel our lower level is too humid, at times it possibly might be.
We do have infloor heat, in addition to overhead vents for the furnace and air in our lower level, and the infloor runs all year long to keep our temp about 69. Also with the air running in the summer, our lower level is air conditioned as well as heated, sometimes at the same time with the open stairway to the upstairs.
I've rarely noticed a skid, but always on softer rolled shots, and won't see it for a month or two, then see it a couple times in a couple days, then goes away again.
So, while thought it could have been caused by the Arimith ball cleaner, it now looks as though possibly chalk, or humidity. Our lower level is extremely comfortable with its infloor heat.
Thanks for all the suggestions.
