It blow’s my mind why balls are not cleaned or at least wiped down with a cloth and looked at for marks that could cause problems in tournaments. Even in the main regional tournaments one skid can cause a lost match. The average top players in regional tournaments will run out if he is left a shot and nothing is tied up…probably 70% of the time. The top tier pros probably will run out 90+% of the time given the same layout. At the top level in pool you can’t get away with a miss in a game unless you get a lucky safe.
Keeping balls clean and unmarked should be a no brainer. If the tournament workers can’t or won’t do it the two players should take half the balls each before they start and clean them. Playing with dirty balls =mad at your money. Johnnyt
