BallStar Polisher Problem - Looking for Advice

So, I just bought a new BallStar Polisher and have had it for a little over a week. I have used it a few times, and it is WONDERFUL, quiet, and does a great job cleaning up the balls.

Anyhow, I go to use it today, I hit the green switch to turn it on, and no luck. No green light goes on, no workie. :(

So, I try to reset the fuse, nope, it hasn't popped on the unit.
I move it to another outlet on another circuit, nope, doesn't work.
I TEST the outlet that it was in with a radio, it has juice, but the BallStar no workie.

Any suggestions? I have sent an email to the place I ordered it from, but I am hoping to fix this myself. Is there any website or way to contact BallStar directly?

I don't know of any way to contact Ballstar directly (unles you happen to live in Korea).
Did you try running the machine, in case it's just a bad LED in the switch? I would also turn the machine over and check the wires on the switch. They're probably just push-on connectors, and round-the-world shipping can cause them to loosen.

Just a thought...

I wish I could run the machine, it won't start.

I have flipped it over, checked all the wiring, the connectors, etc... Nothing is disconnected, all connections are solid, and there does not appear to be any melt marks, or dark spots from shorts.
 
I purchased mine used. When it arrived, there was no fuse in it. I called the guy I bought it from and he said the fuse kept shorting out so it was hardwired without a fuse. Maybe that is the problem with yours?? Mine continues to work today as well as when I bought it a few years ago.
 
Outlet is still hot, yes, I tested it.

Related to the fuse, that is the only logical way. I bought it from Billiards.com and Mark is taking GREAT care of me in getting it worked out. From an electronics standpoint, the fuse is the only thing that makes sense
 
Replace fuse...make sure that it is the right size, maybe they originally installed one that was incorrect, although mine is older it contains a 125V 10amp fuse.
 
Any idea how to get the fuse out? It appears to be sealed on this new unit.
 
Great idea on the fuse, I assumed it was more like a breaker, and it was not popped out. I pulled it out and it is a 5A 250V. I will replace with a 10A 125V.

Thanks, guess I'll keep some spare fuses on hand. :)
 
Just make sure on the size....mine is the "crockpot" style Ball Star so it MAY differ. Let us know how it works out.

That they do, I will see if this one holds. Who knows, maybe there was a spike in the power line. If it holds, no worries.

Replacing the fuse with a higher one or bypassing it completely and hardwiring it is a big mistake and doesn't fix the problem. Like someone said fuses blow for a reason.
 
I did not bypass, and didn't increase the fuse rating.

Replaced the fuse, same rating.

Always check fuses with a continuity tester.Never rely on a visual inspection.I learned that one the hard way to.

How did you pull the fuse out? I've not had any problems, so had paid no attention to the fuse holder. Strange; it just says, "Push."

Ideally, any device with a motor should have a slow-blow fuse. Is the fuse you took out a slow-blow type?

The PUSH is why I thought it was a circuit breaker. However in the front of the black housing around the red button, there is a small opening. Put a paperclip or a jewelers screwdriver through that opening to release the fuse retainer. Then it will pop back up.

the PUSH part is to reinsert it.

Maybe the "push" refers to the small arrow pointing to the hole for the paper clip to be pushed into. I wondered what the damn arrow was for.

Well, mine has a 10 amp, 250 volt standard fuse. Looks like they just used whatever was around the shop when they put the machines together. :sorry:
 
The sticker on the front of mine reads 125v 10amp.

RadioShack doesn't have 125 amp fuses, but they have a good range of 250v fuses. I just bought a range of them.
