Anyone ever had a balsa wood ferrule? I know they make bamboo ferrules and I know balsa is strong for how light it is but you guys think it would hold up well?

Balsa wood is way too soft to be suitable as a ferrule.
I suppose it could be stabilized enough to make it suitable but then it would no longer be light.

What was really the point of those? I don't understand how a comparable result couldn't be achieved much more easily.
I didn't trust the balsa by itself or the OB ferrules that I could tare apart with my fingers. So I made my own.

I started making those for people who had ob shafts and the ferrules started falling apart but they still wanted wood ferrules. If I have to warranty something, I'd like to know it holds up. Ob knew about it when Shane was there. I didn't hide it.

I thought that's what I was looking at. Why even have a ferrule if it doesn't offer a durability improvement?
You are correct. Ferrules glued together with what looks like gorilla glue doesn't hold up to impact. I'm guessing on the gorilla glue.
Mine are done with epoxy

I only make them when I need them. They're a little time consuming but not to much. Pretty simple to make.

What wood do you use?
I think balsa would be terrible for ferrules. I know it well from table tennis rackets. It is spongy, the air inside is compressed on hard hits and acts like a spring. The results would be unpredictable.
