I need to buy a new bandsaw my craftsman bandsaw is done. I found this grizzly 14" saw http://grizzly.com/products/The-Ultimate-14-Bandsaw/G0555 is there anything out there better suited for cuemaking in that price range? Also is it possible to cut veneers with this? will I need the 6" extension to make a 12" cut for anything in the future right now all I use it for is cutting point wood and knocking the corners off wood. What kind and size blades are you guys using 3/4"?

i have that exact bandsaw and it works great. its the most powerfull 14'' i could find with some tweaks to the guides it will run perfect. i have it set up with a 3/4 timerwolf blade. too fast for metal excelt aluminum but will cut anything else including a 3'' rounf pc of brown rod i had for years from dave38 i believe. my small 12'' wouldnt dent it but this saw ripped right thru.

just remember if you get this you MUST release the tension everyday. do not leave it or you will ruin the tension spring and relpacing it then tweaking it again was a pain. do yourself a favor and order 2 tension spring while your aqt it. like 5$ or so.

the good thing about this saw is its in 2 pieces and is movible with one guy. i picked it up onto the stand and put it together by myself.

you must be talking about a different saw this thing is 1 pcs and weighs 400lbs

Check out the post by almarktool. He has a beautiful Grizzly band saw for sale. Almost new it looks like.

The grizzly g0555x is shipped in 2 pieces. Stand then saw or top and bottom. You have to put the saw together yourself. Its easy. I have the exact same bandsaw in my ship. For the money its the best.

I just puchased the g0555 for my Christmas present about 1/2 a day set up kills my old 10"wilton IMO best for the money
