Bank pool question

I was having a conversation yesterday about Bank pool with a guy about rules of bank Pool. He is thinking of starting a regular Bank pool tournament. I thought that I saw in DCC ring game people kicking at a few balls. Is there any kicking in bank pool?

Most people definately don't play kicks count as part of bank pool, even short rack bank pool.

I think they instituted that at the DCC Bank Ring Game to try and help speed things up. Three or more rail kicks counted as a bank.

I personnally don't like counting kicks as banks, and I play a fair amount of three cushion. It would actually be to my advantage most of the time, but it cheapens the game of bank pool, IMO.

I do think kick banks should count, though. If you can make a clean bank after hitting a rail first, which takes a hell of an accurate hit, it seems fair to count it.
 
No kicking allowed in official bank pool -rules. Should make it even more interesting if they'd allow kick-banks.
 
The kick thing in the ring games was to avoid the stall that happens when a ball is hanging in a pocket. I don think kicks should be allowed in 1on1 bank games, but in a ring game it definately keeps things moving.

There is a good flushed out version of Bank Pool rules available on OnePocket.org. These rules reflect the way Banks are played at the Derby City Classic, and include answers to some of these very questions. They also include some of the basic terms used to describe your banks.

I find Banks to be a fun game. Around here it is not really played, but they do play other games that use a lot of banking, so now and then I can get a game.
