So I've never done a ring game for Bank Pool. How is it they structure that is it just say hypothetically "$1" dollar a bank per person? The ring game at the derby I know each guy puts up a certain amount. How exactly do they do it / how is it structured? I'm asking because I want to get a game going at the room I play in. Thanks for any help.

Player starts out with whatever amount they want to buy in. For example $20.

For first round (certain number of games) each ball is worth a small amount. In this case say $0.25. Each time a ball is made by a player each other player pays them $0.25. This means no player would be eliminated until at least 80 balls have been pocketed if they did not make any. This way everyone gets some play time for their money.

After some number of games up the bet to $0.50. Then again after the same number of games to $1.00. Begin increasing more regularly through $2.00, $4.00, $6.00, $8.00, $10.00

If the remaining players (there should only be only two) continue to swap balls you must increase the money dramatically, even up to as much as all-in on one ball.

Let me know if you do not understand this and I can send you a spreadsheet later or you can call me.

okay so?

What do you do on fouls? Pay everyone else or simply lose you turn? Collect them like hickeys in golf and they go to the winner? Can you play safe? Trying to figure it all out . Any help?

There are no fouls, but it is considered to be an all-offense game (i.e. no defense you must always attempt to bank a ball). Any ball pocketed that was not legally pocketed is spotted.

Of course, if these rules do not fit for you it is always up to the tournament director. Also, at Derby City 3-rail or more kicks count. This allows people to try to score on a ball hung in the pocket. It should make the game go a little more quickly.

The break the last player to make a ball in a rack is the one that breaks? No soft breaks I would assume. However many games you want to go before raising the bet? Or do you even have to. I guess if you don't it would take alot longer

If you do not raise the bet it could take forever. It has always been hard break at every one I have seen with the person to make the last ball breaking.

Of course, if it is your tournament you can do what you want and see how the players like it. I do think you need to keep the bets low enough to begin with to guarantee that everyone gets at least some decent amount of chances to shoot.
