Bank pool rules

In my younger days playing bank pool, we could kick balls sitting in the pocket in as long as the kick was 3 rails or more. I seem to remember they played that way at Derby City years ago. Now, there is no kicking allowed. When did it change at Derby City and is that the way the game is played most places now? I sure hate to see object balls sitting in the pocket and people playing safeties.

They allowed 3+ rail kicks on hanging balls in the bank ring game played a few weekends ago at Big Dogs. I *THINK* they payed it so that 3 rail kick = 1 rail bank, 4 rail kick = 2 rail bank....

Yeah I think the only time that rule has been in use at the Derby is in the ring game. It's a pretty common banks ring game rule due to not being able to play safes and whatnot.

The rules I play allow a kick bank but balls in pockets are a huge part of safe play in the game and it creates strategy as to where u can leave the cue ball. Bank pool is a great game everything must be called n go clean even number of rails must be called accurately very little luck involved.

Thanks for the replies. I knew I had seen it at the Derby, and it was in the ring game. The tournament rule is no kicks, no kisses, no combinations if I recall. I much rather would watch people kick at balls rather than try to tap object balls back and forth in the corner.

The rules are no kicks, no combo's, call the ball, pocket, and the rails.
The kick bank was sometimes used in the south in bank pool.
It was not part of the rules in BCA rule book of the 60's and 70's.
Guy pulled it on me in wilson nc. I pushed the last ball into the jaws of the pocket.
He kicked it in 3 rails. Said he won. Said it was a 'local' rule'. We went outside.
Me and him and 2 guys with guns......he won!

Well, being from the south, that's the way we played it too. Local room here has a table dedicated just to bank pool, and they play where you can kick. As for the 2 guns-yeah, them are hard to fade.
