I definitely use something like this, especially to adjust for rolling vs. sliding ball, and I suspect a lot of other people do too. My sense is that there are always “systems” to adjust for anything you can think of. I know good players who use a system for adjusting for English off a rail - a half a tip for each diamond you want the ball to deviate, or something like that.
I don’t really get the idea that you can’t use a system because you can’t adjust for all the factors involved - there’s a system for every factor! Using a system just means you’re consciously thinking about what you’re doing, as far as I can tell.
