Do you know any good drills for bank shots? Lately, my game suffer in that area and haven’t see anywhere drills that could help. I find also difficult to adjust to the rails of different tables. I adjust fast to the cloth speed and cue control, but can't say the same about banking. How do you adjust?
 
line up 15 balls around the table, alternating between on the rail and off the rail and shoot them in rotation. the pocket you bank for is dictated by the shape you need to get to the next ball.
 
Have you seen the Color of Money? Do you remember when Eddie started doing drills again. I think I remember that one was to line up balls a few inches apart in the middle of the table in a line and to bank them one after the other, while at the same time trying to get shape on the next.

You should try this and also put a ball on the rail (or close to it also) and just shoot it numerous times from different angles 'til you can make 'em all.
 
I would say

that the best drill for banking is just playing racks of bank pool. Other drills I work on are placing the OB right up against the rail, right behind the diamonds. I practice shots with the OB frozen to rail, as well as about a half inch off the rail. I do this along the short rail, and then on the long rail. While I practice these shots I closey watch and learn what bank needs a half ball hit. I use the half ball hit method whenever I am banking. I always start at the half ball hit point and then adjust.

My patented bank drill is very useful. For those of you who have my book, the drill is on page 68. Grady even borrowed the drill and showed it in one of his tapes. He did give me credit for it anyway.

Thanks for the replies. I will try your suggestions. It sounds hard though to bank and getting shape for your next bank :(. Do you recommend the bank with the beard or any other bank book?

I learned better banking at the bar when experimenting with english for throw and spin transfer. You'll get a better eye for different angles and how where you hit the cb can make a big difference. Rail banks can be a little more of a pain when the angle is very small. Once you're comfortable with the angles, you'll need to practice the timing so that you know how to get the cb out of the way for some banks. You can try hitting the cb with side or what-not on short rail banks, it may help correct an aiming problem.

Get a copy whitey2, it is a great book with outstanding material presented very well indeed ... and there are a few good stories as a bonus !
