Barry asked me to post his response in his own words to the rumors about this being the last year for the U.S. Open 9-Ball Championships & here it is.

Rumors, Last Year for the U.S. Open
By Barry Behrman

Allow me to personally respond by not using harsh words. Whoever was the fool who started this thread is just that, “a fool”.

I’m as excited as ever to get underway in 20 days from today with all that I’ve arranged for beforehand; such as a BCA regional bar table event at Q-Masters and also the 4, Thursday-Friday-Saturday-Sunday, challenge matches in my tournament room. Then beginning on the first day the Open begins, Monday October 13th, we will be conducting at the Marriot alongside the Pro event many bar table events using 7 foot Diamonds in the other ballroom which we are not using as we are down to one grand ballroom using 9 , 9 foot Diamonds with a max field of 128 players.

Also, Q-Master Billiards will remain open 24/7 beginning Thursday October 9th through Saturday October 18th. Afterwards we have a lot of goodies going on for amateur and professional players, our greatest fans on the planet, 20 vendors, and my awesome sponsors who support the U.S. Open and have for a very long time. As a matter of fact, this year my dear friend Mr. Ivan Lee along with his companies, Simonis Cloth and Aramith Billiard Balls, will be our “Title” and “Arena” sponsor. Thank you very much Ivan.

Lastly, next year’s U.S. Open 40th Anniversary, wow, that’s a long time and wait til you see what I have in store for next October. I’ve lived my life by these words since age 14 when I read these 7 words as a freshman in the wrestling practice room, “Winners Never Quit and Quitters Never Win”. What other promoter can say that? See everyone very soon.

With Love and Appreciation,

Barry Behrman

When I first heard about the amateur event, I was thinking about going. Then I read it is just for a certain group of people in a particular league, I was a little disappointed.:(

I was hoping it would be for all amateur league players.

Still, I think we are all lucky to be living during one of the greatest and longest pool tournaments still in existence.

Barry, you have a great women and friend in your corner, she stood behind you when everyone was bashing you for the things that you did in past opens.

I have never met Roberta, but I do remember how she stood up for you as only a great friend would do.

Barry do yourself a big favor and never let Roberta go, she is someone you can trust with your last dollar!

I hope everything goes perfect at the open this year and many more to come!

So far I only see one player from Japan, and zero players from China, or Chinese Taipei. Hope some more of these players sign up still.
There are four players from the Philippines signed up so far, hoping some more such as Ronnie, Lee Van, Biado or others still get on board.

All the Mosconi Cup hopefuls are in, that's good. There's still time for some more killers to sign up. So for anyone who just wants to play or thinks they can win !
You got to be in it to win it.
