Barton cannot aim

You realize he wasn't playing 9 ball right? Who knows if he can draw his ball. I know he was still as a picture and only thing moving was that back arm once he was set. Held up damn well for 10 dimes. He looked solid for the big cheese.

Agreed. He makes it work for him but his fundamentals are far from textbook IMO.

Do you mean by starting ONE thread on aiming, and asking THIS question?

Now I'm no typist, as you know, but I'm really not "investing an awful lot of time on this aiming system topic".

But yet, why are you here in this subforum? And why post this thread here, when you know you'd cover a wider audience in the Main forum? Seems very point-purpose, to me.

Sean - the ignore feature is a wonderful thing. I added at least 15 today alone that add little to no value. Tony the Thaiger is one such poster. Just craves attention is all.

Hope all is good buddy!

Because he is nothing more than a disgusting troll. And because people respond to him. Ignore a troll and they go away.

Thanks, Gerry. Not doing too bad. Work finally let up for once, although I wish that'd happened last week, so that I could've enjoyed the full four-day SBE experience (instead of just the weekend). Can't look a gift horse in the mouth on that one, though. While there, I spent some quality time with Dave S. and Ron V. in the 90/90 booth. In the spirit of being a consummate cue sports student, I'll delve into it, even though I'm not playing half bad at the moment.

I should have said CTE poster boy.

John has been singing the praises of CTE for quite some time now -- probably close to ten years. Just because he just recently took the Pro One course doesn't mean he wasn't already familiar with other versions of CTE. At least not if you base that on his past posts on the subject.

As an independent observer of the match last night I think it's clear that John needs to work much more on his stroke than on anything else.

That's just how I see it.

Wrong.

I didn't even know such a thing as CTE existed until four years ago.

What I sang the praises of is Hal's aiming methods which work fantastically. Do you think I just got lucky on the banks I made?

I dogged it pure and simple. But I am not and never have been the "poster boy" of aiming. Landon Shuffett is that if anyone because he combines his ROCK SOLID fundamentals with a ROCK SOLID aiming method.

You guys are funny, we present you with good and great players who use these methods and you discount them.

Then I say to you and everyone that pool is MORE than aiming, what every aiming system user has said and then I go out and PROVE it by dogging the stroke, rushing etc... and you suddenly act like aiming is everything?

I will continue to talk about it as I want to and I will continue to work on my mental game and my stroke.

I made some awesome shots in that match as well. And dogged a lot of easy ones.

Tell you what, you and everyone else can say what you want but the aiming system works just exactly as it's claimed to work. You can go through life believing it doesn't but if you gamble then some day you will run into a player who uses it and doesn't disclose it.

You will praise that player for his shotmaking. You will call him a great talent. You will give him respect. And that player will wipe you off the table and never tell you what tools he is using.

If I had beaten Lou, then no way in hell you folks would have suddenly changed your minds. So don't act like me dogging balls validates your position if you don't think Landon running over Earl Strickland doesn't validate mine.

If you asked Earl what was the biggest factor in him losing that match, what do you think he would say? Aiming or something else, say, pace of play?

It is laughable to think Landon (or anyone) can 'out aim' Earl. Insulting, in fact, and something that demonstrates a profound ignorance of the game.

Okay. I stand corrected you have only been aware of CTE for four years.

I don't discount anybody that can play. I just discount the importance of the particular aiming method they use.

Then I say to you and everyone that pool is MORE than aiming, what every aiming system user has said and then I go out and PROVE it by dogging the stroke, rushing etc... and you suddenly act like aiming is everything?

That's funny. I don't pretend that aiming is everything. It's just the opposite. It's only a select few people that go on and on about aiming. You are one of them.

I will continue to talk about it as I want to and I will continue to work on my mental game and my stroke.

I made some awesome shots in that match as well. And dogged a lot of easy ones.

You did make some nice bank shots. I'll give you that.

Tell you what, you and everyone else can say what you want but the aiming system works just exactly as it's claimed to work. You can go through life believing it doesn't but if you gamble then some day you will run into a player who uses it and doesn't disclose it.

At this point in my development I can say without a doubt that the players that beat me stroke the ball better than I do -- it's that simple. It was really that simple in your match as well.

EDIT: I guess what happened is a form of dogging it.

JB, You didn't dog it. You simple weren't 100% focused on the goal at hand ... "in it to win it". You needed to be focused, determined, analytical, and undistracted. You weren't settled in, calm and relaxed like Lou was. Lou was so relaxed from the very beginning. In the beginning you were nervous and distracted for some reason. It was easy to see. So you went through the motions and tried to appear that you knew everything about one pocket. So quick to shoot ... 1-2-3-shoot...1-2-3-shoot...1-2-3-shoot...and so on... When you played hard and focused a few times you competed and won a few games. You flew at way too many shots. If I was Lou I would have put you on the end rail every chance I could and just let you fly. It was sad to watch but I was pulling for you..

Wrong.
