i noticed on ESPN last night the way Basavich sets up, with his right arm sort of "out there", away from his body, that was pretty much the way Mark Wilson wanted me to do things.

however, that just seems like "overkill" to me, to have it way out there. i agree it somewhat needs to be away from the body so the body doesnt interfere with the stroke. but as long as its the forearm swinging, its a repeating straight stroke, and delivering the tip right where you want it i dont see anything wrong.

when i saw Mr. Basavich i said outloud "Hey! thats how mark wilson was wanting me to do it!"

i'm sure mark wilson was teaching you the "proper" way to stroke. you should stick with what he taught you........

some people have unorthadox strokes and it works for them.......if you're talented everything works thats just the way it is..........from your posts i'd say that your stroke before going to mark wasn't working for you and the one he showed you is improving your game.

thanks

Some players HAVE to stroke way away from their body, due to the fact that their body gets in the way. Similar to some female players, they have to open their stance as well. I don't think it's wise to move away from your body, causing your stance to open up. This cause alignment problems, goes against the natural motion of the body. But what do I know!

Danny just came off the road so his stroke is that of a pool hustler, terrible, but it is what helped him get games. Also his body size is a hinderance, so he has to adjust his arms to his body.

it was unbelievable to see his stance..if you were to describe it to someone they would thing you were off with the description........with that smile and his pleasant attitude he will go far as an ambassador of pool...
