BB black boars new and old

I hear what you're saying Ken..but I don't think old BB cues have lost there value at all..at least not anymore than other big name cues in this economy..they all still bring a lot more than they did when new..so they were and still are good investments and great players to boot..most all cues have lost some value over the last few years and it's got nothing to do with a logo. These older BB catalog cues are just different from what BB builds now..and the price reflects that..but I've had some old logo cue that were quite elaborate and brought big money...and I've never had a problem selling any Black Boar..not sure why you'd say that...

Here's an older logo BB that's bad to the bone!

I'm sure someone is knowledgeable enough to chime in......
isn't there something about the new cues having no "A" joint in the usual sense - like a tenon that extends as one piece with the handle and into the forearm? Does anyone know what year this started?

Not all

It is weird about Black Boar cues. Since the new logo, I have been advised to not spend much on the older logo cues, as they are tougher sell. Everyone wants a new logo BB.

Strange, but because new logo, old BB have lost value.

Most things, the older, vintage, etc., you would expect be higher in value verses the newer stuff.

It seems that along with the new logos, Tony has spend more time and effort and making them more elaborate, verses the older cues which I considered "players cues".

Interesting.

Just about all the old logo Boars were 4 points, they may play well but do not play like the 6 points. Tony himself has said this many times. When his shop was paired down to just him , his brother , and one other worker who I can not recall his name right now but he has posted on here, that is when Tony changed the engineering of his cues drastically. The 1st. ones that had this were a handful of 4 pointers that can be distinguished by having no veneers. The next step was to do this but with 6 points, the 6 points played so superior that he quit making the 4 pointers altogether. The first 6 pointers were made using the old Logo, at the suggestion of his son he then went to the double B's with the wording custom added to it. Only a few of those were made when he eliminated the word custom and just used the double B's. I have both the old logo and new logo 6 pointers and both play equal. I did several years ago ask Tony about changing the cap with the old logo to the new one but at Tony's suggestion did not. He said " to do that would be shooting yourself in the foot, only the first 6 pointers have the old logo the majority have the new" he reasoning and it makes sense is the 6 pt. old logo is rarer then a 6 pt. new logo. If I liked the cue and it was a 6 pointer I would not care what logo was on it. The 6 pt. Boars and the 4 pt. Boars are like two different cues.

I have an early 4 point 1 of 1 BB that Tony and Vince Sangmeister built. And a 6 point BB custom
that Tony built. Both cues play equally as well. Tony told me that the best players were the all birdseye BBs if they didn't warp. Tony always hypes his latest model BBs but i think all Black Boar cues play great. You can't ever go wrong in my opinion with one of Tony's cues.
