BCA and jump cues??

I think I'm fixing to get back on a league after 4 years of hardly playin at all.

It will be a BCA 9 ball.

Does anyone know off hand if there are any jump cues that are not allowed.

My break cue will have a Samsara tip on it so I'm pretty sure it's ok. I Picked up a Lucasi jump cue on the cheap but not sure if it will be legal with the phenolic tip. Well I think it's phenolic anyway. (Stock tip on it)

I'd say check with the league operator...but I did hear that BCAPL rules changed to allow phenolic tips on both jump an break cues after the short ban on phenolic for break cues. Phenolic was always okay on jump cues.

Hope somebody corrects me if I'm wrong.

Jump cue specs

The Bca has a few cue requirements. Over 40" long, under 25oz, and the tip can not exceed 14mm. Tips made of leather or man made materials are fine, provided they do not mar the fur ball. Same goes for break cues. (Source: I am a csi referee:)

I'm not sure how long it is but its not over 25 ounces for sure. lol

I'll contact the girl that runs the league and find out.

Well she just texted me back. Apprently no jump cues allowed at all. I'm guessing that's a In house rule. Maybe the non jumpers voted against it. Who knows.

But if I can change cues during play I can make some jumps with the break cue. :-)

Been playing on the BCA leagues for 20 years.
Last I knew there were no restrictions on jumping or jump cues. But any local division can make a rule against it,,if they wish.

And I believe the MI state BCA tournament banned phenolic tips, the last tourny also. They were worried about hurting the tables/balls. And again a added rule by the TD. I cant recall if it banned jumping,,,seems they did??

I dont believe its a rule from the BCA as a whole. I could be wrong. Now a days a little whining from the non jumpers goes a long way. I don't know why though.
I know my BCA league right now,,,you can jump.

I got confirmation from a friend I used to shoot with that just happened to be in the same league. Jump cues are allowed.

I am starting on a USAPL team next week and was curious about jumping as well. I then did a search and found the following document:

I support this rule lol. Clean kicking or ball in hand to opponent counter is gonna be a tickin.

That’s a 2014 document. It also appears to be the section specific to one pocket.

If your particular league does not, then it is a league operator or more likely the facility making the rule. If you were to advance to a national competition in Vegas, you would be at a distinct disadvantage…

Edited to add that I should probably have read the comments directly above mine before typing… 😂

Great minds think alike.
