BCA ball in hand contact?

Hi,

In BCA rules, is it a foul to contact object balls with your hand while it is holding the cue ball? I can't find it in the rules but I imagine that it has to be a foul.

If you're playing all ball fouls then yes, it's a foul. If playing CB fouls only that should be covered under the rules related to disturbed balls. Of course, done intentionally it is unsportsmanlike.

BTW, this would be true whether you actually mean BCAPL rules or you really do mean BCA rules, which are nothing more than WPA rules.

I will try to find it. I'm on my phone and searching for the PDF. I got into a dispute over disturbed balls, too! For a league that prides themselves on playing by BCA rules, they sure don't know any of them...

opponent has no restoration option.


They're missing a noun. They must mean to have the word "foul" in there- so it would read "it is a foul if you..." It makes even less sense if any other word is inserted. (legal shot? non-occurrence? banana?)

I don't know about league rules, but in tournament or money play...
....even when we're playing 'cue-ball fouls'....
...when you have ball-in-hand.....'all fouls' rules apply.

Good find. I checked the paperback version and the word is missing in it as well. It has to be a foul.

It is in fact, of course, a typo. So sorry it slipped by us . And it is a foul under BCAPL Rule 1-38-4. The typo has already been corrected in the draft for the 2014 versions of the book.
