BCA Instructor Ratings

ok, perhaps this has been talked about before lately, but i couldnt find it so i am asking again.

what do the different Instructor Ratings on the BCA website mean? whats the difference between:
Advanced
Recognized
Master
Certified

don't know bugger all myself, but i would hazard a guess that they go in the following order:

Certified
Recognised
Advanced
Master

Have i got it right?

By the way, actually LOOKING at the BCA website gives the relevant info. HERE is a LINK. Next time, can you just look... ;) [it's a link on the instructor page]

DCP, As was already noted, the order is Recognized, Certified, Advanced, and Master. There are certain requirements that must be met in order to move up through the different stages. They involve working with a minimum number of students per year, assisting in teaching classes with advanced and master instructors, demonstrating the ability to communicate advanced concepts effectively, assisting on committees, writing billiard articles, etc. Then you go under review by the board and must get approval to advance.
There are also monitary costs to move up through the system. Basically, you don't move up unless you have demonstrated you are both competent and committed to seriously teaching pool.

What he said... BTW, rating don't mean anything. I've seen several certified and advanced instructors who teach better than some master instructors!

i imagine that's right. take it with a pinch of salt, like anything else. a higher rating doesn't nessecarilly mean a better instructor.

Correct, although it can be a factor to consider when you are shopping for an instructor. And I am probably biased, but the SPF family of instructors are some of the finest instructors I have had the pleasure of being associated with.
Certified, heading for advanced...right on Scott's heels!
