BCA lo won't support BCA

We have a lo in Okla. City who won't support all BCA events in his own town or state!! Now as players we want as many events all year long to go to and throw our money at. We just want to play. The more the better. He thinks another event will steal teams and players from his event. To the point of telling our local national refs they will not be welcome if they participate in the OTHER event. WOW! I thought all BCA league ops were on the same team. Guess not.

Very rare.

If that LO doesn't take care the players will find another venue to play in....SPF=randyg

the LO in question

I for one happen to know the LO in question. It's not that he doesn't support BCA, it's that the people running the event(s) are doing it in poor taste and not being all too friendly. I dont really want to say anymore on the topic.

Tap tap! It is also my knowledge that the event organizers came in under the radar and that most if not all BCA LOs in the state are against this event not just one.

Thanks for the info Drew. I thought there might be more than just what I heard. He is a decent fellow, I think theres a lot of things going on here. Would you be related to Justin or even George. George was a good friend of mine years ago.

nope, the only other Whitehead's around here I am related to are a Gary, Gene, and a Jesse in Texas. You happen to be an Oklahoma City'er?

Drew

Yes Drew, I hail from Edmond, actually, nice to see you playing with one of hucks cues. Do you play with it or is it a breaker? Hope Huck can make a go of it, he's always been decent to me and he is a pretty fair player. Just got himself a baby recently. He plays with Teddy Bears, Snivlin Snavley, Chuck M., Mark D., J. Rod, and the little eccentric guy who never cleans his shaft? Can't remember his name. Wears white tape on his glasses and they ain't broke!! Thats eccentric to me. What speed are you Drew?

It's a jump/breaker, but I have a play shaft for it that I'm picking back up from him sometime this weekend. As far as speed, I don't really know. I play well enough to win most of the time, but I know enough that I over think everything and mind #$&^ myself.

OMG, he doesn't know what speed he is. Starting to sound like a hustle already. Just kidding. If your winning most of the time, would that be 51% or maybe 75%. Big difference. And of course against who? Maybe we can hook up some day. Do you work for a living? I really don't get along with people that work. For some reason I think you might be young, and I don't want some youngster taking advantage of me. Might play for some table time huh. Who's the greatest player you ever beat locally in a decent race?

That sounds more like it. Ok has the best BCA State Tournament to my knowledge. Sounds like someone is butting in. I can only guess who that would be....randyg

I play on moday night BCA and that's about all I play. I haven't really been playing much, honestly, and I think I'm about 20th or so in that league if it means anything to you. I am a young guy but I do work for a living though. Tough to be in school and pulling in 40 hours a week.

Randy, I too think we have one of the better state events in Oklahoma. The old SWEL tourny wasn't too bad either. I played in the last three or four and always had a good time and good competition.

I find you post interesting, and may I ask what support you would like to see from this League Owner in support?? Some League Owners do it for LOVE, Running a League, and operate pretty much even, or such a little in their pocket, they are already supporting local Pool with their League Operation.

Where you play out of Drew, at least your in the first column. Are you North Okc. or South. We do have some strong teams in Ok. Sometimes too strong I understand. A few years ago my team took 2nd two years in a row in the Texas tourney in the open. Yes, they let us play down there and were actually quite cordial. Different in football. The last Texas tourney I played in was in OKLAHOMA. Go figure.

Edmond eh? Looks like we are just about neighbors. You ever play in the Saturday night tourney at the Wolftrap?

Wolftrap

Not nowadays, but 10 or 15 yrs. ago I dominated that place. Now its just college kids and I hear they do have some decent tourneys in there. They used to have 3 locking small rooms in the back, mirrors and flowers and nice furniture, very odd. Can't tell you what went on back there or I would have to kill you. I still see strangers to this day that say they remember me killing them. Not really big money games but we just played constantly. The origina owner still owns it and had a serious Coca Cola problem at that time. He had a pink Caddy convertible and a friend of ours was a bouncer there and we would take that Caddy full of girls and drag main and God knows what else. There was this older fellow named Austin Spivey and he and I both had really grey hair. Nobody could tell us apart and he was stronger than I was. Nobody ever beat both of us in partners.

Just figured out who you are Nat. Tall, shaved, great player. And the little wife, kinda red headed, very cute and also a shooter.

Got me, except for the great player part. Decent at best. Now the wife on the hand is starting to pick it up! :D Even at 6 months pregnant!
Now who might this be? PM if ya want.

Well lets see now. What do I want my local LO to do. I know him personally and like him fine. Where I worked they wanted me to do my job. I think I want him to do his job. They say he has one of the biggest memberships out there but I don't know that to be a fact, just heresay as far as I know. Mainly stop letting true masters go off and play in opens for starters. He does an ok job really in all other respects, but telling refs not to go here and there is sort of odd to me. This too many events thing too close together has just started and others know more than me the politics involved, I just thought it odd he would be against any event taking place.

We had some great tournys there for a while a year or so ago. Bunch of shooters showed up. Then they installed some nasty Crown Royal cloth on half the tables and I quit running it. Not to get a big head, but when I quit it most of the players did too. But, in talking with the guy who runs it now, they are trying to get it back to what it was. All green cloth and as many tables as needed for it. Who knows they might do it. I played it last Sat and they had 12 in with $75 added, not too bad.
