bearing size for collets for shaft work

We need more info regarding your lathe or machine and where you will locate the bearing. I prefer to make my own, tapered collets and then split them with a bandsaw in 2 different directions(4 slots-two each way, alternate the direction).

Your collets are more accurate for you if they are built on your lathe. Naturally, you need a small boring bar, maybe one with changeable inserts from Enco.

best wishes,
Charlie W.

I need a bearing that my shaft will fit thru with a nylon volley
I will drill the hole to fit the od of the bearing

A picture of your collet splitting would be appreciated.

Thanks
