Thanks for the kind words sir.

I do not believe that it has been cored for a couple of reasons. If you look at your 7th picture down, you can see at the pin that the ebony shows through there. If it were cored, it would probably be maple wood there, or whatever wood was used to do the coring. Also, at 19.75, that is more a weight that would have a full ebony forearm.

At second glance, the 7th picture might offer a look into the pilot hole, since it is a piloted joint, which means that it is not ebony showing out the pin. I was thinking that it was a flat faced joint.

If this isn't correct, hopefully some other AZers will correct me.

Mike

Thanks for the info Mike .

When I spoke with Bob at the DCC this past year, we discussed his coring of cues. He said when he cores a cue, he puts the SHURTZ logo in a vertical orientation, opposite of the vertical orientation of the mark on this cue. So based on our discussion and the marking on this cue (plus for the reasons Mike cited above), I would venture to say it isn't cored.

To be sure, you can drop Bob an e-mail or give him a call. I'm sure he'll be happy to answer your questions. I talked with him for a few hours concerning cues and cue construction and he was very helpful with suggestions and advice.
