Before & After

Hammy,

Just out of curiosity, where at in Northwestern PA? I grew up in the small town of Slippery Rock and was just wondering.

Thank you
Paul

I live in Girard PA, about an hour north of slippery rock. I got the table over in beaver falls though, right around the corner from your home town :)

Ty for the compliment. This is such difficult work I cant imagine how hard it would be to do for a living and Im a roofer! Im glad I did it but doubt I could ever do it again.

I originaly tried to shim the way you suggest but the floor dropped so far that the frame to leg bolts wouldnt reach. I had made new feet while working on the legs, but wound up adding 2 of the old ones back underneath in addition to the shims. This was when I was really wishing for some real experience.

Thanks again for sharing knowledge and beers on me if any of you are in the northwest pennsylvania area.

Then what you want to do is cut some 3/4" plywood into square blocks to place under the leg pedestials to get it close to level, then fine tune the level between the frame and leg pedestial for level. What's going to happen is the shims on the floor are going to get kicked out sooner or later. That's the way I'd level the frame.

before & after GC

I did not take much time to take pics of table in the works but I got a few before and after pics...
-
'The table had been recovered and new pocket facings installed a week before...'. Table was in such bad shape from a hacked up job that was done a week before I got there'
The reason I was called'_

-table rolled off, slate seemed uneven, pocket facings was not installed correctly, feather strips unevenly installed all the way around table rails, balls getting stuck and balls coming out of the ball return and loose installed titan cloth... The guy who had last recovered this has been doing table work for 25 years...

Jack...you do some very good work, and pay close attention to detail...I like that in a mechanic...I also like the fact that you're not afraid to spend the extra time it takes to really do the job right...the first time;)

Some really nice work shown in this thread, love to see people that care about their work and their reputation.

Glen, what is the key to getting the rubbers on straight so there are no variances along the length ?

The trick to installing the cushions straight is to slightly stretch a length of about 6" but only line up and stick about 3" at a time, that way the cushions are straight before they even come into contact with the sub-rail.

I could just sit and look at pictures of Glen's work all day!

Now I wanna go play some!

Merry Christmas Glen!!!
