Ok,
I have been doing JP's for a while, done a bunch, but now it seems I am doing some really nice set that will match the customers cue.

Doing Ivory tops on some, been engraving stuff on the tops like shaft 1 or 2, but here is there could be an issue

What if someone wants to have the maker of the cue engraved
on the top of the JP
Dufferin lets say,
now I know that shouldn't be a problem, but is it ok to take the initials like a D
and then what about all the other cues out there, I know some cue makers don't like doing JP's
So what is the right thing to do

Just looking for some help
Steve

Just my opinion.....I would see it the same as having matching ring work on a shaft, I would not be putting my logo on the shaft. And if I was doing a shaft for someone elses butt I would not put that manufacturers name on the shaft.
A fancy/matching joint protector should be seen as part of the cue in its entirety, so therefore no separate name/logo/initial is needed...IMO

I think putting the name on there would make some cuemakers upset. It might even get you dragged into court by some manufacturers. I agree with the above poster.

That's what I was thinking as well.
I always try to be respectful,

I actually thought about putting my Cross Bones on each JP that way there couldn't be any confusion that they where made by the builder.

That's for the input,
Steve

I consider my mark to be a sign that it was made by me, much like a jeweler's mark. Even as an addition to a cue of my making, I wouldn't want to see anyone else using it.

Permission beforehand makes all the difference. I have given Alton permission to use whatever he wants. I have even sent him matching rings to use. Doesn't bother me at all, but then again, he asked.

I would take the time to personally call the builder of the cue and ask them. This way you dont have any problems.
