Being ripped-off by Cuephoric... I hope not

Thanks for letting me know about this by the way guys.
I've been kinda out of pocket lately.

Just a suggestion here. Tell him to check with UPS frieght and ask for a deal and he can get a better than originally quoted price. Usaully at least 20 to 40% off listed price

UPS told me $1100 when I tried to start this out with them.
And I dropped it off with them the weekend Troy sent the Paypal.
When it was still sitting there after I got back into town, I picked it back up and brought it home to deal with myself.
8 foot long, 6 foot wide, 10 inches thick and hundreds of pounds.
DHL wouldn't even touch it unless it was going to a business location with a receiving dock.
The girls at the Elk Grove office wanted to have someone from The Bay come and tackle it.

And scheduling someone from Global to come and get it almost worked.
But a little skinny guy showed up and ran....
Anyway, I wish Greyhound would have been a simple option, but I'm not much of one for doing things halfway.

And I'd LOVE to ship the Baby and burp the rack!
LMAO!

"A way to stop the ripoffs'

There should be something that the buyers can do , like send a money order with a date like two weeks down the road;if you item doesn't come it the alloted time, cancel the money order? The seller is always protected but the buyer needs some kind of a system to guarantee his purchase.

GET A LIFE:rolleyes:

This is funny. What if the item comes and the buyer cancels the money order?

Or... what if the seller gets the money order, cashes it, and doesn't send the cue. I believe this is the trend, lately.

...I'm tired of trying to get a freight company and talked to Glen(RealKingCobra) and he will be picking the rack up on Thursday for me and deliver it to Troy when he gets into Chicago.

...Anyway, I'm not trying to screw anyone over, never have, never will,
Shane,
I'm glad to hear that there is at least a plan to ship in progress. Even after the long period of no communication, etc, I chose not to escalate my Paypal "dispute" to a full "claim" aginst you, because I still think you're an honest guy with intent to follow through on our deal. :) I knew there had to be something going on, but with no communication, it puts me in a position to assume the worst. I look forward to reporting that the transaction completed successfully, and I'll smile as big as this guy. :D

Although we've played voice mail tag in just the last couple of days, I look forward from hearing about the details from you.

Not that anyone on here knows me from a hole in the ground, for all anyone knows I could be Shane with another account (I'm not). I do know a lot of local people who know a lot of people on here. Anyway here goes...

I've been in touch with Shane quite a bit over the last two weeks, and as ironic as it may be, Mr. Hoppe (Troy) himself is the one who directed me towards Shane in my search for a table.

I want to tell you all how nice of a guy Shane is, from my impressions thus far in our dealings. I've been searching for a table. I'm brand new, and very eager to expand my playing dramatically. Unfortunately, I have no money for an expensive table.

Once I got in touch with Shane, I was so excited to get a table from him until I realized he was 600 miles away. The price he offered the table at was great, but there's no way it's financially feasible for me to get a truck/trailer and drive 1200 miles. Not to mention the time.

Upon hearing this, SHANE's immediate suggestion was that he get a truck and trailer together and drive the tables down to within ~2 hours of me if I could handle meeting him there. He's not going there for any other reason or business, just to shorten my drive.

Now that's is a great offer in and of itself. But that's gotta be worth at least a few hundred extra bucks for him to drive ~9-10 hours not to mention loading the table on his own and all the gas money.

Nope.

Shane offered to load the table on his truck/trailer, drive 900 miles, take a whole day of his time and few hundred bucks in gas. FOR NO MONEY AT ALL. In the end, I honestly think Shane is going to lose a good amount of money on these tables, but all he wants to do is offer me more stuff. Cue racks, house cues, triangles, blankets for putting the table in my truck, etc.

We've had many phone calls, IM's, I've seen lots of pictures, etc. All this while he's been dealing with some extremely difficult and emotional times with his family.

I (and you all probably do too) have immediate family members that wouldn't bend over backwards like this for me. Shane is a complete stranger to me, I've never met him before Mr. Hoppe recommended I contact him on a table, yet I trust him like a friend.

Oh, and he's doing all this and driving down here without wanting a deposit first.

I'd say I've easily done +$20k in transactions through forums and ebay building race cars in the past, and Shane is the most accomodating and generous seller I've ever dealt with.

I can't make any comments at all on this transaction as I know nothing about it, but I thought I'd offer a glimpse of another transaction going on in Shane's life right now.

To quote my boss, I think he's just "jamming 10 pounds of shit in a 5 pound bag" right now and got a little overwhelmed.

Best of luck to you Troy.

I can guarantee you that Shane is an honest guy. I've done many transactions with him and there is nothing for Mr. Hoppe to worry about. I know the situation in detail (home situation) and is beyond admirable to have even gone this far in the transaction. He is a great guy to deal with and someone I consider a true friend even though I've never seen what he looks like. No worries Mr. Hoppe. Hope everyone is happy in the end! C

How did the rack get delivered in the first place? Does it not
come apart? Anyway glad y'all worked it out

Not to mention the class and compassion that Mr. Hoppe has shown throughout this transaction. He is certainly an honest trusting individual, and in my opinion is one of the classiest people on this forum

I know Shane also, he really needs some help with the family issues he is dealing with. He moved to Sacramento from Colorado, and doesn't have anybody
to help with the kids now that his wife is having problems with her pregnancy.

Now, I only hope that the display case is delivered without any more problems. Shane is going through some tough times, and Mr, Hoppe has been extremely understanding.

Cuephoric has said that Glen, aka (RealKingCobra) will deliver this case and if this is true, then everything will be fine...

Updated 1/12/08:
Well, it's official. Shane Johnson aka Cuephoric of Elk Grove, CA, has ripped me off for $1,500. For the last several weeks now he has not returned any of my messages to his cell phone nor the business that he owns called A Best Billiard Service, which I assume is in or near Elk Grove, CA. I appreciate those of you who vouched for Shane's honesty when it first appeared that he was a crook, but it is now confirmed. He took my $1,500 as payment for a cue rack, and has no intention to ship the rack, nor return my money. If you talked to this guy you would think he's the nicest guy in the world, but that's how scum-bags, crooks, and thieves opperate, they lie constantly. This guy is nothing but a common THIEF.

Shane is not some teenager who has made a mistake. He is a husband, father of 4, and a business owner. While $1,500 is certainly not a small amount of money, it's also not a large enough sum to through away one's reputation in my opinion. If he wanted out of the deal and needed to pay me back over time, that could be arranged. But that's not what Shane wants to do. He wants to steal it from me. All of it.

Takes a sorry P.O.S. to steal. I hope you can get something done but it being this long I doubt you will. But thats ok, what goes around comes around. He'll eventually get his.

err his post was on october 14th and he said the transaction occured 30 days ago so at most that puts it at 3-3.5 months. still long but not anywhere near 8-9 months.

Yes, I gave that POS every bit of slack and opportunity that I possibly could. WAY more than any reasonable person would. Now it's clear that he is just a LIAR and a THIEF. He even responded to this thread, on page two I believe, and told everyone here how busy he is, and that he would never rip anyone off, and that he would have the item delivered, but those were all lies. I'm probably not the first person that he has stolen from, and probably will not be the last.

It's a shame that people like him live in this country and participate in this forum with the rest of us honest people. Please call him and ask him why he's such a scum bag.
