Beloit, WI - The Carom Room - $1000 Added - Dec 12th - "No Masters" 8-Ball

Is this the Steady Eddie that I think it is?

lol! I"m sure it is dave, he just doesn't know how to spell eddie.
Alright guys I'm not bashing anyone here I like the tourneys thats why I go. But I AM a pool player and as everyone knows, most of us need something to ***** about. Ike likes to complain about the drive time and stretching the tourney two days. Troy complains that I don't do well when he buys me in the calcutta. Chad complains that my cheerleading section is bigger than his. I like to complain about the seemingly inconsistant playing ability grading by the "committee".

Example, marlon angeles and I gamble even up. Its 50/50 over probably 10 different nights who walks away winner between the two of us. So with regards to barbox 9 ball I think were pretty even. Maybe I'm condeming myself but I haven't won, let alone cashed, in one of these yet, so I don't think thats the case. Here's the thing, there is more than a handful of players in these "no masters" events that would jump at the opportunity to give me the 7 ball/8 ball or even both! Not only would they jump, these are games I'm not so sure I like, and THAT'S COMING STRAIGHT FROM THE ATM'S MOUTH! lol

Anyways, I may be wrong but I don't think marlon has even won a big event in Beloit and he's not allowed to play in the no masters, while you have "no masters" players in the tournament that would gladly drop out of the tournament if the stakes were high enough, and give him a nifty spot to boot!

Joe, your opinion is just that and you are more than welcome to it. Unfortunately you've misrepresented facts and accused players of dumping to win $200 (minus expenses) when they could win $2500. That just doesn't make sense.

After this thread sat idle for a week you go from bashing other players to defending Marlon. Let me guess who you talked to recently... If you want to play Marlon even and feel confident in your ability I would highly suggest you bet $1000+ a set and see who wins. It's all relative Joe.

The "committee" has been very consistent in enforcement of rules without showing favoritism. The tournament committee is offering up the benefit of 80+ years of combined experience and deserves a little credit.

Wherever any tournament chooses to "draw a line" there will be players who are marginal on either side of that line. That's the nature of the beast. The Carom Room tourneys offer strong calcuttas for you to bid on those players you think can win. It's really easy, just raise your hand & bid...

Right on Duane. I don't think there are people dumping it in third to sixth place. You guys do set the bar high for a "non master" but it is your tournament. There are probably 30 people in your no masters that play better than me but you guys kept it consistent and moved me up for doing well. I know I have been playing for a while and have NEVER seen a tournament series like this before. Probably the best in the nation for the past 20 years. I guess if people don't like it they don't have to play, there will be 20 people in the line behind them waiting to play.

Thanks, Tom. I can appreciate your comments.

We do "draw the line" where we think it belongs and stick to that line. Those who fall just below the line are the favorites. Some think they play too good. I just see them as the favorites. Those who play just above the line feel they are getting punished. I do understand this. All we ask is for those players who play just a little too good for our no master events is to give the open events a few shots. If you play then we can make a decision. If you don't play, we really can't make an informed decision.
