Beloit, WI - The Carom Room - $1000 Added - Nov 14th - "No Masters" 9-Ball

Beloit is on my radar

Thanks for keeping up with my post.

AJ made the final 25 on a tie breaker. He managed to make the final 12 double elimination in the same fashion winning 1 more game than Randy Enlow to get in.
He then lost to Rich Sager who after being tied 1-1 AJ dry breaked and did not shoot again in the set.
He did win 3 matches in a row to place 4th and then Ralston did the same thing to him that Sager did then went down to AZ Jay Pettlon.

I looked at the Masters list a couple months ago and did not see his name on it.

Sounds like the tournament is definitely worth the drive. As we like one day tournaments, no matter how long into the night they go.

Thanks

Calcutta Questions

With payouts like the one's on your results the Blind bids have to go pretty high? How many blind bids do you usually offer or do you just sell them down the line?

What did the better players in the auction go for in the last OPEN event?

Just curious as to how much $$$ I need to bring to get part of the action.

Thanks

The tendency is with open events the blind bids tend to go higher because of the perception of a few top players. The "no master" events tend not to have as high a blind bid only because there is so much parity in the players.

Normally we have 2 blind bids. In the open events the blinds go anywhere from $400 - $700. In the no master events $300 - $400. However, it is an auction so if you get a large number of bidders the numbers could go way up. If you have no bidders, well... we won't worry about that :)

Auction pays better than auction

Sounds like from what I have heard and seen that the AUCTION blows away the tourney payouts. Sure hope when someone pays 400-700 on a player I bring they are actually gambling on them hitting the board.

What they used to play like is not like they play now.

FYI for all you gamblers.

We usually play for the tournament money and let the auction go. Might take a quarter if AJ is feeling LUCKY.

Mark, AJ is eligible for the open events (like 11/28) as I have already stated. I wouldn't worry too much about him going with one of the blind bids but I will say he won't go too cheap. But there is only one way to know for sure...

If you have any players for the "no master" tourney this weekend then make sure to get there early to guarantee a spot.

Getting lots of interest for this weekend. Make sure that if you have not paid in advance and want to play that you arrive early this Saturday in order to get one of the 96 spots.

Remember, this is a "no masters" 9-ball tourney on new Diamond barboxes. $1500 added money on a full field and a big calcutta.

I see there are final tournaments for both 8 ball and 9 ball (No masters). Do you have to play in a 9 ball event AND an 8 ball event to qualify for the respective final tournaments?

No... either works fine... but you do have to play at least 1 time in that division (no master or open) to qualify for the final events.

Thanks Duane. I am trying to find a couple that I can come to, but so far I've had conflicts. Probably see you in January.

Travel safe and good luck in the tourney. See you all there on Saturday.

I'll post some tourney info & pics on Sunday. Look for complete payouts, player lists & results on the Carom Room website by Tuesday.

Another amazing turn out for this tourney!!

We filled the full field of 96 by 11:09 am. If you don't prepay then please get there early.

$1500 added plus another $6,380 in the calcutta made for another $10,000 plus payout.

Please check back to the Carom Room website for complete results, payouts & player lists to be posted in the next couple of days.

Thanks to all that travelled so far to make this a successful event. Hope you had a great time :)
