Beloit, WI - The Carom Room - $1500 Added - Jan 22nd - "No Masters" - 9-Ball

I agree. The Carom Room does a great job at sorting this out and watching players. I think the tournament they run, the facility they provide and the people there are fantastic!! I totally understand this is very difficult. The problem is the out of state players. Look at the list of the entries and the people that finished in the money. I see maybe one person from WI. Also look at the number of the entries from WI. Very low. Why is that?? I believe these out of state players are flying under the radar and are stealing our money. If they have not played in any state tourneys there probably isn't much info. on them. Difficult to rate ability on an unknown player. I am not a hater, I just don't like to give my money away to out of state players that should not be allowed to play.

I'm not sure what people being from out of state has to do with anything. The Carom Room is like, what, 5 blocks from being in Illinois? Duane himself lives in Rockford, IL (I think, lol). Some of those people that aren't from Wisconsin probably have shorter drives than I do, and I live in Wisconsin! Duane, Dave and Carlos all know players from all over and they have ways of finding out people's speeds when they need to. And if people from other states are making the most money, maybe all the players from Wisconsin need to focus more on playing better than complaining.

This is one of the best tournament series that has been ran in years. The Carom Room does have a higher standard when it comes to ranking people. Thats probably why so many great players have came out of that place.

I initially thought this tournament (no masters) might be to tough for the average player and fade away, but it shows no sign of letting up. I mean besides a state tournament or Vegas where do you get 96 player fields on a regular basis?

Great job Dave, Duanne and Carlos!

Playsum9,

Interesting that you consider it a Wisconsin tournament. The pool hall is less than a mile from Illinois. I've always thought that the vast majority of players were from Illinois/Wisconsin with only a handful coming from other states.

This tourney is not for the faint of heart, though. You must bring your A game and get some good rolls to boot to do well:wink:
