It is always difficult to find cue makers who can work on particular brand equipment, especially like Mike Bender's cues.
I sent Steve Lomax one of my old Bender shafts that was no longer working with instructions for him to cut off the existing collar and use it on a new shaft that I asked him to build for my Bender cue.
He did an excellent job and I am thrilled with how the new shaft plays.
What I am actually writing about because I said something in a previous post a while back that wasn't correct. I suggested that it was necessary for you to send in a Mike Bender collar if you owned a Bender cue and wanted Steve to make you a playing shaft.
Here is a better clarified description of what Lomax Cues can do for your Bender cue.
He can build a shaft and tap the thread to match your Bender cue, with or without a Bender collar.
Steve can build a shaft from scratch using his own collars or use an existing Bender collar with his shaft.
He can also match any collar that you want duplicated.
I had him make a shaft for me and the cue and shaft rolled perfect but it is best to send in your cue's butt to make sure that the facing is perfect.
I don't require perfection so I don't send my Bender butt to Steve although I sometimes wish he was closer and I could hand deliver the butt of the cue.
Regardless, I wanted to correct my error and let everyone know that Steve can even make Bender shaft for you Bender cue sight unseen. You just have to be responsible for providing him with the exact dimensions of the exiting collar/joint or just send him a shaft and he will return it with your new Lomax shaft.
Steve Lomax has come a LONG way in the last 10 years and can swing a cue himself. Don't ask him to play banks.. just sayin..... I guess the fact that Steve can play well, helps him design a shaft that can also play well.
I think I am going to Atlanta soon and may stop by his shop to order another shaft for my Bender cue. This time, I am not going to chop up one of my oldershafts. :embarrassed2:
