Bert Kinister work outs?

I agree. I took private lessons from Bert many years ago and he changed me from a banger into a player. I take time off from pool for years at a time and find the mighty X a huge help to get back into stroke after a long layoff. His drills are priceless and Neils will tell you the same. When I met Neils, the first thing he said to me was "Do the drills!".
Jeff from Joliet... Hmm... Wanna hit some?

My opinion

Theres tons of tapes out there as well as books. I have all of Berts tapes and really put the work in up through the first 25. My game improved faster than any of my friends that i played with. They had no clue i was doing his drills and wondered how i jumped up so fast. They are like anything, These tapes aren't a magic pill. Berts tapes are based on a lot of repetitive drills that take weeks to master. Thats what makes them so effective. I have almost all instructionals out there and it seems Berts drills make you want to conquer each challenge he has. He has some quirky stuff that just makes you shake your head and think he's insane. Overall if you watch Berts tape and never give them the time and dedication you will improve. If you just watch them you may learn some but the chance of fine tuning your game like he wants wont happen.

Well there was one tape the "no deflection" tape i did'nt look real deep into it because i thought bert had lost his mind lol, Saying that there is no deflection? But maybe i just did'nt understand what he was tryin to say? Either way if i had the cash extra i would love to spend a week or 2 with bert and soak up some knowledge.

Here's a Kinister quote from a guy who used to hang with him:

"If a guy's got a job, I know I can beat him."

When I showed up for my first lesson he asked me if I had a job. I told him yes. He asked if I had a wife or girlfriend and I told him yes. "You're never going to be any good at pool." was his response.

I just watched some clips of his his shot makers workout on You Tube. I like this guy! He's jacked up and loves the game and it really comes through. Any reviews on this guy from any of you out there that have seen any of his video's? I'm considering buying some of his video's. I really just want the diagrams of the shots for this workout to use daily.

Mention Youtubes and no link! Shame.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRYfD9weMGs&feature=youtube_gdata_player. I think this is what he was referring to Bigtruck. Hope this works. Those quotes above sound exactly like something he would say. Lol! Let me tell you this guy knows how to tell some stories too. I asked about this makers workout and he said he filmed that in an afternoon and made all those shots without a miss. I would have to watch the video again but I think it's 50 or 60 in a row without a miss. 20 years ago this guy could really catch another gear

Highly recommended

I've owned a dozen or so of Burt's videos throughout the years and as others have mentioned he is the real deal.

The 60 minute workout for 8-Ball & 9-Ball stands out to me as the first one to purchase. Do the workout for 1 month and your game should increase at least one level. Numbering the shots is a great way to learn them and path the cueball takes on these shots avoids potential scratches.

The ideal situation is to be able to view, pause and rewind the video while you are at the table practicing. Even if the production isn't modern, the intelligence that went into these videos is impressive!

I'm pretty sure it was called "the deflection tape" and if I remember right Bert told me it was about backhand english, but that was many moons ago :)

Listening to Bert on tape is like listening to Grady and Billy commentate.

Some of the stuff that comes out is just gold.

He sure loves to repeat himself, he loves to repeat himself.

Sometimes I just watch the tapes to listen to him talk about the game more than about the shots he's showing, gets me all fired up to play.

One of my favorites is the long shot tape (54 maybe?), after I watched it I was able to make those shots 2-3 times better than before.

bert's videos(dvd's) are the best on the market and he knows his stuff.

I couldn't agree more. Now that Bert offers videos on demand you have his entire library to view for the price of one instructional video.

I know exactly what you mean. My favorite video for this is #4 Berts 10 best hustles. I could listen to that all day, and that's the way he is in person.

Ding dong daddy! He helped me take the money home! I learned 75% of my skills from his vids. His early vids where a great buy but after the years u payed 30$ to learn one shot per video. Thats a little steap in my book.

I remember scanning youtube and running across him and just lol'n

What a character and he seemed like just a great guy. The stories here don't surprise me as i'm normally a good judge of character and this guy fits the bill.

Wish the world had more like him. He only seems to care about taking the people that will listen and making them into the players they can be.

I would definitely spend my money with Bert rather than the BCA instructors pushing CTE on you.

This is what were talking about. There cant be a single thread without a douche bag comment from you about cte.

I agree, this is not a thread about aiming. I do feel sorry for people who can't look at a ball and a pocket and know where to hit the OB however. Back to Bert. The susbscription to the online videos -do you have to subscribe for a year or is it month to month? Is it for say 30 days from the time you sign up or something? Not sure how much pool I'll be playing once summer gets here so I'd rather not be paying for a year's subscription when I may not pick up a cue from May to October.

You can just do month to month. I signed up for the 3 month plan. Do be aware though that like alot of other things if you don't cancel it at the end of your subscription, it will automatically renew. For the most part I love it because I'll just take my iPhone to the table, stop and rewind as necessary. I do sometimes have to refresh the page and re loggin to my account in between videos but I think for the money it's worth it. You said you were familiar with his videos so I don't have to warn you about the production quality. Btw, when do you and the Az king have your match set up?

Thanks for the info Jeff. Three months sounds like a good plan for me too.
I need to call Serge and set it up. Probably in a couple weeks we'll get to it. It has to be before the end of the month because the ACS state tourney is that last weekend. Steve said you had some big wins for him in last session's playoffs. Great job!
I'm gonna text Jeff now and ask him when he will be free for the AZBKing thing.
