I am thinking of having this cue refinished. It's got some dings, etc.. my question is the name in the window. I have a few options...

To remove the name if possible, or remove the window. If I remove the window, I was thinking of either:

A- Blank window...

B- Bert Schrager - 19??-2011

What are your opinions?

I like the tribute idea.

I would not remove the original name from the cue, I doubt Bert would want it any other way, also in my opinion it will lose it's originality and it's value some what if changed.

I don't think removing that name will devalue the cue any more than refinishing it will. Does it say By Schrager on the other side? Keeping that if it is on it should be done if possible. Adding his name and year of birth and death might be okay, but I would not do it if it has the By Schrager on the other side.

It doesn't have the by Schrager, and if Bert was still doing cues, I would have him remove the name or plate. That's why I am thinking about changing the plate. I am in agreement with cueman, it probably won't affect the value either way.

it only affects the value if you're gonna sell it.....then you have to think about how many people would want the cue original, those that wouldn't, and those who are indifferent.....either way some may loose interest in the cue according to your decision so i'd say do what YOU want

skins -----likes originality :)
