Best Accu-Stats ever?

My favorite's are Cornbread Red vs Bugs(LOP 91) Shannon Daulton vs Bugs(LOP 92) and Jersey Red vs Bob Osborne(LOP 91 Philly Style). I love all the older stuff, especially the Legends of one Pocket.

The Sigel vs Ervolino match is the first time Freddie did commentary I believe. I remember because Buddy mentions how good Freddie sounds on the mic.

Any pool fan who hasn't seen this match is really missing out.

Daulton vs Bugs is another gem with a very young Dennis Hatch getting a close up view of how good Bugs banks.

my favorite match so far has been the shane/alex round 1 set at DCC. it goes hill-hill with some major mistakes at the end and a good jump as well. when they produce it a sick bartable set is frost playing shane in iowa race to 150. thats probably the best set i have ever seen.

Thanks everyone for all the replies, looks like there's plenty of stellar matches. Now I've got something to ask Santa for Christmas.

Two of my favorites come to mind, but i'm not sure of the years:

Sigel vs Varner at the US Open in the 90's, Nick was down 9-2 in a race to 11 and came back to win the match. Hall and Mathews did the commentary and this match may be my all time favorite Accu-stats match.

Sigel vs Hall in Memphis in the 90's. This match was the final and it was great. Buddy had a hard fight with Mike and came back to win the match. The commentary was priceless.

Santa delivered...Call me after Christmas and you can come over and get them. I got the tapes from Dad's house, and they are two of the best matches you will ever see. You can borrow them and see for yourself.

Chris...Hands down best match ever!!!!!!!!!! Is an easy one...It is also regarded by many to be the best match by 2 players ever on tape and I have it....It s Johnny Archer and Jim Rempe in the sands regency 92 I believe. Its a race to 13 I think and both guys shot over a 950:eek: Goes hill hill, and has Buddy Hall and Keith McCready as commentators. If there is a better played match by two people on video I would HAVE to be shown because I dont think there is:thumbup:

Ditto for this one. I've owned this tape (now converted to DVD) since the mid 90's and still probably watch it once a month. Only potential drawback to this match is there aren't many (maybe none) spectacular shots because they both play nearly perfect pool. If you like 9 ball and enjoy seeing the game played the right way, there's no better match than this one.

Great ones!

I own both of these as well and still watch them regularly. Great commentary and 3 of the greatest players of all time. The Sigel/Varner video is technically superior, with better lighting and different angles shown. You can get a great look at that awesome Sigel stroke on this one. But, I find the Sigel/Hall match more entertaining. Sigel makes some incredible shots, and the commentary was entertaining, with Varner laughing loud enough at one point that Sigel stops play momentarily for the guys to settle down! (Commentators are Varner, Danny D., and Billy Incardona)

Thanks for adding some more info on these two great matches. The Sigel vs Varner match is still available I'm pretty sure, but the Sigel vs Hall match isn't available anymore. They are two of my favorite Accu-stats matches that i've ever seen. The commentary on both matches is almost as good as the actual play.

Hands down, 2001 US Open finals, when Corey Deuel aces Mika 11-0. Mika looks like he's being waterboarded between racks. I've watched that tape too many times.

Corey showcased the cut break - which stunned the pool world and has created rules, strategies, and controversies which still exist in today's competition. This was one of the first uses of the Sardo Tight Rack which also enabled the perfection of the cut break.

It truly was a historic, gound breaking moment in pool. To see a talented world-champion like Mika helpless in the chair like a normal human is truly amazing.

I have not seen that match, heard of it before. I have lost 11-0 a few times playing someone near my speed, man it stings. If I lose 11-0 playing JA it still hurts but as bad. I need to see that match.

Nine Ball choice for me is Earl vs Davenport at the Sands. Three set finals. Little dance at the end from the winner. Archer/Rempe is cool, but McCready coughs into the mic every 20 seconds and most people I know need to mute it after a while.

One Pocket- have to agree with Fatboy here. No tape is more entertaining than Sigel vs Ervolino with Billy, Freddie, Cornbread, and Buddy on the commentary.

Yeah thats the match, I havent watched it in about 8-10 months, I have watched it many many times. The commentary is strong as the 1P. For anyone who likes 1P must own this match.

yeah, unless im mixing this one up with another one (i think i have 200 matches), this is where freddie uses the phrase allen and artie "circled each other" but never played... fing hilarious. he goes on to say he wanted to FORCE artie to play hopkins cus he wanted to see it so bad (me too).

I will second the Varner-Sigel match. It is still my all-time favorite Accu-Stats match, and a match you have to see to believe.

That Hall-Sigel finals match was incredible as well, mainly because of Buddy's impeccable play. His cueball control was otherworldly. Sigel had beaten Buddy in the hot seat match just the day before, when Buddy was on the hill at like 10-7, and Buddy missed a very easy billiard on the 9 with the 9 hanging in the corner pocket to win the match. Sigel made the 9 and came back to win the match from there.

Buddy was unbelievably disgusted at having lost, after leading the whole match and playing close to perfect, so after winning the 3rd-place match he came back with a vengeance to beat Sigel in the finals something like 13-7 IIRC. Even Sigel said after his semi-final win that Buddy was playing better than anybody in the world at that time, and Sigel knew he'd play Buddy again in the finals. You could tell Sigel was trying to convince himself in the interview after the semi-final that he could beat Buddy again in the final, but everyone watching knew that Buddy was on top of his game and that Sigel would probably have to get lucky again to win it. He didn't.

Grady beat Buddy 11-0 one time at the Sands Regency Open. It used to be on Accu-Stats, but I'm not sure if it is anymore.

You are correct. Buddy Hall loses it and gets the giggles for a few minutes after he hears that.

Another Buddy classic from that match after some Ervolino craziness:

"Look at him!! He's a looney tune!!"

I have a new favorite.

Spectacular play and Grady's commentary is equal.

Grady begs 'Cardone to write a shot choice on a piece of paper so he can read it and be wrong, for once. Grady also picks Efren to shoot a CB split/ carom shot to get out of a trap. Cardone is a doubter who turns into an apologist.

there is a one pocket match that takes 2 disc's. I cant remember who was playing but Buddy Hall and Corn Bread Red . it doing the commentary with Cardone I believe. I cant remember who was playing, Perhaps Mike Segal i'm not sure who was playing. The commentary was the best, Red never did any commentary they grabbed him as he was walking by and gave him a mic. The match was great as well as the commentary.

Sorry I cant remember the exact name, its in Vegas and I'm in Germany. If I wasnt I'd go get it and post up the exact disc. Since I cant, Just go to Accustats site and look for Billy Burge, Buddy Hall as commentators and thats the one, it was a tournment in Philly. Its hands down the best Accustats tape/disc ever. It runs real long too, hill/hill I think.

Was it Jack Breit vs. Bob Osborne 5-4 with B.I. and B.H. announcing and maybe Cornbread sat in as he's not listed as commentator.
