Best bank players in the world

Were forgetting a pretty strong banker who just passed away recently, Larry Price from WV won two Derby City Bank titles. Also didn't see Nick Varner on anybodies lists. Lots of good bank pool players from KY & WV over the years

The game has evolved quite a bit since the days of Eddie Taylor, and Brumback has been the one who has done the most to bring the theory forward.

With nodisrespect to Eddie Taylor or Bugs Rucker, the two names that seem to automatically arise when the discussion of greatest bank pool player takes place, I think Brumback merits serious consideration as the best bank pool player of all time, and is at least comparable with those other two legends.

I'm not suggesting that John is better than Eddie, Bugs, or Fargo at making bank shots, but I think his shot design is by far the best in the world today and, probably, the best ever.

sjm I respect your posts tons and I think John is the greatest banker alive but when the bear was sober and his eyesight wasn't bothering no one ever banked like him.

Right, but event at the highest level, bank pool is a game in which there are a lot of misses, and I believe that the way Brumback plays defense with his offense is a notch ahead of his competition and a notch above the greats of the past. You have to do much more than shoot bank shots well to win at bank pool.

Taking your word as fact here, but to me, who was the best banker and who played the game of banks best are two different questions, and it's the latter that has been posed by the original poster.

Thanks for sharing your insights and also for your kind words.

Theres a local guy here in Baltimore named Charlie Jarboe. Used to give up weight to world champions back in the late 80's. Would bet him against anyone in the world.
