Best C/F shafts W/out a Glove

Like the title says. What carbon fiber shafts are preferred to play without a glove??

Personally I find gloves a distraction.

I am in NC and humidity here is certainly part of the equation..

Maybe I’m the wrong guy to comment, because my hands tend to be dry. But I’ve found CF to be even less likely to grip than wood. I have both a Cynergy and a Whyte Carbon (I do keep them clean and when it’s humid I wipe them often with a dry microfibre cloth).

That said, when it’s SUPER humid I have used a glove.

Thank you for your information. I’m not prone to sweating much myself, although my skin is on the oily side. I use quite a bit of EVOO on my food and when I sweat white undershirts tend to get a light stain.

Presently I play with a Mezz Ex Pro shaft. It’s wood with a carbon fiber tube inside. So I am halfway to a full carbon fiber shaft.

On the reviews currently the new version of McDermott’s Defy 3rd gen and the Cynergy seem to be very popular with Revo right up there as well.

The one concern I have with the Defy is the interior dampening product. They call it SmacWrap and its whole purpose is to dampen sound and vibration.

I got some feedback about that from a Facebook group focused on McDermott products. There it is not reviewed poorly, more like its different in the that comments are you find yourself hitting shots harder than needed. Which leads to the cue ball traveling further than expected..
Fortunately I am not in a hurry to purchase, so I hope to hear more as time goes along.

Try the Ghost CF shaft coating. I use it on mine, and I do not use a glove.

Pagulayan also has a shaft slicker. I don’t really use it for the reasons I set out above, but it does make the shaft slicker.

I've hit both the orig and new Defy's. The new one has a finish closer to what every other cf shaft uses. IMO they both hit WAY too soft. I'd never buy one myself, that hit is just like a wad of gum is stuck on the end. If you like a soft hit this is your shaft.

I looked into this a bit more after reading your comment and was somewhat concerned about the SmacWrap dampening system.

So I looked into the Cuetec Cynergy. There I found a commentary from SVB. His input into the development of the Cynergy shaft included his statement regarding feeling the hit of a cue. His view was feeling the hit was THE most important factor for him in a cue.

The reason that stood out to me is his hearing issues. When one of your senses is compromised the others become more acutely tuned in. Therefore his comments are indeed his true feelings at least to me. I will likely now consider other shafts including the Cynergy.
