Best Chalk Holder

Blue Diamond Chalk

I ordered some Blue Diamond Chalk from AZ Billiards Marketplace so I am good to go. The prices were VERY GOOD and it was an easy method of ordering online.

Now my game is sure to go up at least a ball or two.

Joey:

It sounds like you're ALMOST good-to-go. All you need now is that "Regulacation size table for sale..." that Marissa posted, and THEN you'll be good-to-go.

:D

I've tried many types of chalk holders since I prefer having my own chalk handy. It's now a part of my pre-shot routine on every shot.

I don't have to search for my chalk anymore when I come to the table or get it back from my opponent. It didn't use to bug me back when I used green Master chalk (versus the usual blue Master on the tables); but, then I started bringing my own Blue Diamond chalk and opponents would question me why I wanted the chalk that they had just taken from the table -- did it have my name on it? -- hell yes, just look!. (I know someone else said just take it from the table and set it next to your stick holder each time but I found that to be too much to think about and keep track of -- much easier to have your chalk in your pocket at all times when not in use.)

Never liked the two piece holders since the two pieces eventually just get separated. As for the one piece ones with a stick, they fall out too easy. The bullet is little better but still falls out.

Jim Baxter had one made for me that works good and stays in my pocket (the last one in the pictures with my name on it):

I was worried about the leather connector wearing out or getting cut so I wrapped it with some soft doe skin lace that I had. Works great.

P.S.: As the chalk gets used it goes below the edge of the holder. Just keep putting quarters under the chalk to raise it above the edge of the holder.

John Brumback (secrets unfolded) It's JoeyA's way.

Jim Baxter's antler chalk holders are unique. Hope he isn't running out of spike bucks.

I got a 3 cube chalk holder from Castillo Leather Goods some time ago. Just the ticket. Keeps chalk OUTSIDE of my cue case. He sells them on his web site, eBay, and on Here:

Exotic lizard leather holders: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=172478

Yeah, I picked up one of these from Joe Villalpondo and his partner at the DCC this past week. I think I will put two pieces of Blue Diamond Chalk in it and hang it off of my cue case for easy access.

Let us know how you like using it. I don't care about acceptance by the masses.... just how it plays. Thanks, Jim

Edit: what kind of clip is on it? Is there another thread where it's shown better?

Jim,
AZ Billiards's "Aurora's" leather pouch has a folded hanging clip that works perfectly. You slide it under your belt and over your trousers waistline (whatever you call that) and it holds the chalk holder very securely.

The convenience of accessing the chalk is exceptional. I place one piece of chalk in the holder so that I can place or extract the chalk easily. The truth is I like it better than anything I have used so far.

I misplaced it for a while but am back using it again and it works for me.

A funny story about DCC. I spotted John Brumback outside of the tournament area and was inquiring about him giving me a bank pool lesson and he was acknowledging that he was interested but seemed to be in a hurry and he flashed me a piece of Blue Diamond Chalk and said that he had left a piece on one of the tables inside the tournament room and seemed anxious about trying to go back and retrieve it. Having bought some, I completely understood. I lost two pieces while I was there but I didnt have my leather pouch chalk holder at DCC. :-(

Anyway, when I saw John Brumback rushing back to the tournament room to get a piece of chalk, I KNEW I had made a good decision to purchase the Blue Diamond Chalk. For those of you who want to try some, the cost is about $3.50 per piece of chalk. Yeah, I know that's pretty expensive but what the heck... The cue tip is the very most finite point of your cue that touches the cue ball and whether it is my imagination or not, the BD chalk seems to hold a touch better than other brands of chalk.

I would bet that John could get used to one of Aurora's Leather Pouch chalk holders real quick. What I like most about the ALPCH is the easy and quick access of my chalk. Lee Brett was right. It is becoming a part of my preshot routine and I like it.
