what is the best way to clean your cue. which processes do you guys here favor the most? which one should i buy, and if so, anyone selling it?

bucket of soapy water and a sponge...armorall when done. just kidding:) all i use is a soft paper towel from the mens room. never have a problem with my cue being tacky...except when they open the doors on humid nights.

With a little rubbing alcohol if needed.

Works scary good.
What he said.

Rubbing alcohol can put a SERIOUS cleaning on shafts....as long as you don't use too much and soak the wood. Just enough to make the towel damp, and the chalk comes right out.

Nothing

Nothing, a blue shaft is good, it seals the wood--seasons it. When it gets really really really bad, I have a cuemaker clean/seal and retip.

Wipe the entire cue down with a clean, white, 100% cotton cloth. I use a water based wood floor cleaner called "Bona" on my shafts. You can buy it at the grocery store. It is very mild and has no ill effect on the wood. Just a couple of spritz on the cotton cloth and wipe the shaft down vigorously. Takes out the chalk without raising the grain. On the finished parts of the butt and shafts, I will put a coat of "Cue Wax" on them, let dry to a haze and remove with the cotton cloth.

thanks. i see there ar e few things to make it clean, but what about keeping it smooth also? that is the main reason why i clean it so often cause i like it perfectly smooth and chalk build up causes the stickyness. i am getting a new cue so i am not sure if i should start off a certain way or not use certian products like bleach or alcohol. i do not want to hurt the finish or wood.

anymore inquireis on smoothness and how often? especially you guys with the expensive cues thank you again very much for all you help.

so here is the consensus so far. i was told to use a little bit of rubbing alcohol, folowed up by using a dry rag to remove it, then a leather burnisher, (like the mcdermott one), to burnish it and that will close the poors and smooth the cue.
anyone use this method?
also will rubbing alcohol ruin my shaft?

Don't forget the WAX

I use Q-WAX on my shafts after they've been cleaned.....smooth as your Babies B-Hind :D

i haven't tried it yet but i have been talking to a lot of people about slipstic. I think i am going to buy that one. the all in one. nice poll though. it good to get a whole bunch of views or various methods.

On most cues I just use guitar polish. Shafts I hardly touch.

Meucci's, Predators, McDermotts I find lighter fluid and matches work the best. :D

You should talk to Pete Lafond of Slipstic about this. He makes alot of sense. I believe his view on the rubbing alcohol is that it can dry out the wood too much.

Anyway, FWIW, here's my method. It works great for me:

Q-Wiz rough side, Slipstic cleaner, thorough burnish w/ Q-Wiz smooth side, Slipstic conditioner. Play for six weeks and repeat.
