best cue in $100 range

I will say that Bill makes a really fine cue for the money. You can get a plain jane for $99 shipped, or you can move up and take that plain jane and make it "kandy curly". he takes an airbrush and colors the curly maple. you pick your wrap or wrapless and its color, the weight of the cue, the tip size, and either classic tan or black butt cap and joint. Bill signs the cue and the butt cap has his signature "D" logo. I just bought a Kandy Curly for $149 shipped, and it hit great. 3/8 x 10 pin, like a Mcdermott, but the shaft wood is so much better than a production cue. So good looking, somebody offered me $250 for it, and I sold it. But plan on getting another to replace it. This time a wrapless "kandy Curly" starburst. Try Bill Dominiak out, you can't go wrong. Especially for the money.

Michael
I have one of the $99 dollar cues on order. Hope to receive it soon! :)

Does anyone have any feedback on the $99 William Dominiak cue yet? How does it play? What do you like/dislike about it? Inquiring minds want to know...

My 99.00 Dominiak just arrived 2 days ago....and the cue has a nice crisp hit and nice feel.....my other customs will sit in the case for a while....it plays that well!!!
I agree; the hit does seem rather crisp. I might even call it edgy... if that makes sense. It reminds me (fondly) of an older Lucasi sneaky pete (another good value cue) I had.
IMO, the stick plays well. Playing on a bar box, I was able to run 7 balls and the 8 my second game of eight ball with it (I'm still at the level where that is not that common an occurrence.:) )

Fit and finish is excellent. William makes a nice looking cue.
I'm not sure if I'm sold on the tip yet.

I believe it is well worth the money.

Regards,
Greg

BTW, I got mine in full curly.

Ive had one of Rackems cues for over a year. Use it for 3 cushion billiards so i abuse it. STill straight. Hits solid. Very pretty. Sharp veneers, nice colors, fancy wood. Couldn't believe it when I first saw it. Talk to him first . Nobody will match it. Shoot Straight..

Recommendation

You can get a much better cue in the $200-250 range than a 100, but another alternative, probably about $130 range is a Huebler Sneaky Pete.
I played with one for 19 years, and it was a good cue.

Here ya go: available right now!

Using Buy-It-Now plus shipping, handling and insurance will put it right near $35.

Remove the tip that comes with the cue, and install a milk dud or other good tip.

Sand the shaft down very lightly with 600 then 800 grit paper.

Apply beeswax to the grip area if you like.

The 19 oz model works best for me.

Plays jam up...:D Last time I shot with it in a bar a fella who'd had a few tried to snag it from me, thought it was a house cue  Glad I didn't lend it to him, you shoulda seen him bang a house cue on that barbox... sheesh...

I bought a Duferrin SP and changed the tip, now I use it for breaking and playing. I don't even take my other cues out of the case anymore.

thanks

Thanks for the kudo's my friend. I also have used one for over a year. I use it almost every night for at least a few games at the pub. I break with it also. They are really solid cues. I just bumped the Primo Pair thread if anyone is interested.:)

I received my Dominiak cue yesterday and thought I would post a picture of it. I haven't had a chance to play with it yet but it sure FEELS different than my inexpensive graphite cue! :)

I ordered it in 19 oz. with a 12.75 tip.

There is a custom cue maker named Jack Kompan with Mystick Cues in San Antonio, Tx. He will make you a sneaky pete to your specs for about $150.
I got mine and liked it so much, I hung up my $1200 Schon that I'd played with for 15 years.
I don't know of another cuemaker who stands behind his products like Jack does. Super guy to deal with.

PM me if you want his number and address.
