I'd like to buy a good dime tip shaper. What are some of the good ones that work well and last? Thank you. Johnnyt

I've used the Williard shaper for over 20 years. In that time, I've tried others and they are no match for that tool.

My vote goes to the CueShark PUP. There are a few threads in which it has been praised for being the best all-in-one tool on the market right now. It's got a dime shaper (and a nickel shaper in case you ever want it too), a burnisher, a perforator, and an edge trimmer, all in a product about the diameter of a silver dollar, and 3/4" thick.

First choice is a Willard... second choice is a Willard... third choice is a Williard... forth choice, well, you get the idea :)

Willard

I have both the regular Willard dime shaper and the Willard Universal Tip Tool and although shaping a tip isn't exactly hard work, the Universal is so much easier to hold in your hand or step on with your foot. It's completely worth the extra $8 and will last for years. I've become very attached to mine.

I don't know why it's called a Universal since it really only scuffs and shapes, but here's a link below.

Good luck!

That Cue Shark Pup looks interesting. Anyone have one?
I've always used Willard also. They are very good, but clog up and wear out fast. Johnnyt gets bored and changes tips on his cues a lot...a lot:D. Thank you all for the advice and links. Johnnyt

This is the one I like. I doubt you'll wear it out.

Willard's Universal Tip Tool

Willard's Universal Tool is a versatile tool. It has a cue tip shaper, a gauge and a knurled end to file and scuff tips. Using Willard's Universal Tool will improve your game by giving you a more accurate shot.

Willard's Universal Tool is available with a .415 in. (nickel) or .358 in. (dime) radius. It is portable and convenient, allowing a player to reshape a cue tip at any time. The cue tip shaper end has a knurled dome to accurately reshape the cue tip. The gauge on the side of Willard's Universal Tool shows you when the cue tip is perfectly round.

I periodically use a metal nail file to round out my layered sniper. Just cause I have a nail file doesn't mean I'm gay, ok? :D

I have one Johnny. I'm a big fan of it.

I use the Willards. Right there on my key chain so even if I'm at a random bar and pick up a house cue I will at least have a shaped tip.

Cue Sharp by far the best. Small and easy to handle and does other things, like trim the sides. Free shipping $25.00
