What would be the best training/educational billiards DVD for a beginner to buy to learn fundamentals, etc.?

You can't go wrong with this one... it may be available in DVD... I don't know.

It was just released in DVD format a few months ago. I agree, it is one of the best I have seen for anyone getting started in the game.

Perfect Pool from the IPT is pretty good too. Has a real good quality to it. Plus since Mike Sigel is left handed, Kevin Trudeau is also helping out in the presentation, right handhed.

My g/f bought the Robert Byrnes tape volume 1, and I thought it was pretty insightful all n all..

Exactly the one I was going to post, great video from one of the top instructors around.

How to play pool right is a great tape..i have watched it several times..but i will yell this out loud and clear...Bert Kininster's 60 minute pool work out is an incredible cd to watch. It has given me an edge over players that other players cant stand. If you practice the shots on his tape you will get better.

First thing to do if you are serious is to take a lesson from a BCA instructor to learn how to grip a cue, and develop a stroke. Don't listen or follow your friends advice on how to do this. Work on this and after a few weeks take lesson 2 from your instructor so you will be able to learn aiming and speed. Work on it a few weeks and then take the last lesson. Then buy the Pro Book and DVD by Bob Henning. When you accomplished everything in the first book then buy the second. There will be enough to keep you busy for a long time and in the long run save you a lot of money and wasted time.

Am telling you from experience and wish I would have done what I am telling you. I am now trying to break a lot of bad habits that have been developed over the years.

Excellent post!
Learning a proper stroke is the most important thing, before moving on with any instuctional dvd. Some people can learn to stroke on their own, however, the vast majority would benifit from professional instruction.

I've viewed many an instuctional and I agree that Bob Hennings "The Pro Book" along with his 4 DVD instructional set is amongst the best of packages out there.
