Hello all, I'm looking for a custom made 1 of 1 cue but I scour the pages, websites, forums with no luck so far. So I thought I'd Ask the Community of experts, would sbe be good, derby, vegas be my best bet would love to spend a day of two looking at custom cues and billiard products? TIA

I don't think you can go wrong with going to the SBE if you are looking for a custom cue. Quite a few of the ACA cue makers are there every year as well as vendors selling a vast amount of custom cues, both from current makers as well as from HOF makers. You can also talk to the cue makers and possibly design your own.

Make sure the ones that you look at, you ALSO can hit balls with.... before making your decision.

I'll buy a car w/o driving it, but not a cue stick.

I bought my Richard Black in 2002 at the SBE- I walked around the expo and hit with every custom cue makers cue that had a booth - RB was my first choice , Andy Gilbert was second that day - eventually owned both but that RB Split Diamond cue I still own and it is a great looking and great playing cue. $1350 back in 2002 but worth every penny to me. Never selling that one - goes to my sons.

The Super Billiards Expo is where the greatest number of cues I have ever seen are under one roof at the same time. That is many months away.
There are many fine cues for sale all the time here on AZ. One of one is vague. Do you have a particular cuemaker and budget in mind? Do you want new or used?

SBE is pretty good to get one. Better head their on the first day and you probably will be paying show prices. They do have tables for you to try out a cue.

The deals at SBE are often much better than on here. You're buying direct from the cuemaker (in many cases) as opposed to the dealers on here that mark up the price $1k+. There are many dealers at SBE also, but you can deal a bit more in person.

I nearly purchased (should have) a cue from a major cuemaker at SBE a few years ago, only to see it listed on here for $1500 over his initial asking price.

I went to Super Billiards Expo twice to buy a cue and didn't get one. The first one was pre-covid and was nice. The post covid one was lame! I will never go back. I am looking for somewhere else to go. The last one I went to had limited selection and they wanted stupid money for anything. 4 prong butterfly and the points don't even line up $2k butt only, no shaft. Anything that looks half decent. $4k and up. I couldn't even find a decent glove. I think I came home with a piece of chalk and a cueball. That for two days shopping cash in pocket.

Lots of Scumbags in the pool world. You need to weed them out. I wouldn't trust most with a nickel

I don't have a cue maker in mind, Tried to have one built but after a yr of chasing him and one word Reponses I told him to keep it. I'm looking for something nontraditional with blended colors, Like a Jacoby buffet cue or I've seen a couple madrigal cues that were already sold.
