Best hitting custom in the $300-$400 range?

Rick Howard or Pat Diveney

I would recommend that you get a sneaky from Rick Howard or Pat Diveney. Both make great playing cues that are well worth the money. I have a Diveney with the G10 3/8 11 pin and it plays great. I have had a lot of Rick's cues and they seem to play the same---- very good.

I bought an AC TrueBalance Conversion, Wayne Robinson Custom, and Ratcue, all in your price range.....you can get a great cue for under $400...

Best value is gonna be in the for sale section....these guys, as well as a host of other makers, sell their brand new creations there.....or you can buy a used one from a reputable seller and get a bit more for your money....either way, good luck...

Diveney

I have 3 of Pats cues. They all play fantastic, and his quality is top notch. Hard to go wrong with his work, and his customer service is great as well. Unless you are in a rush call him. Pat will build what you want and how you want it.

My first vote would be to contact Ryan. I have one that is currently broken (wont tell you how I did it) and two others I have sold to flip a dime.
Contact him. You do not have to have one of the stock out of the catalog.
The other maker would be.

Go with a Pat Diveney. I own 2 and they hit and play great as well as look great. They play on par with some of my higher end cues. His workmanship is perfect. Go with a G-10 pin and Moori tip. You won't regret it. I think IndyQ has a few available, check out his website.

I like Pechauer in that range, though I'm not sure if you would really define one in that range as truly custom.

i also would have to go with the Rick Howard... not only because he is from my neck of the woods (well... kinda) but he is also a top notch cue builder and you can get one of his sneeky petes for around that price.

You have a lot of great suggestions for cues, so here's one more.

Have you heard of Tiger Products? They make the Tiger X shaft, Sniper tips, Stack leather wraps, etc. They also make cues that include all of the things just mentioned. I have one that I would sell for $425 shipped in excellent condition. And it plays really well.

Here's the link to their website for the cue I have for sale...it sells for $589. http://www.tigerproducts.com/store/product.php?productid=16251&cat=260&page=1

Thanks, Dave

I'd like to get my first custom in the near future. I want a new plain jane in the $300-$400 range, either coco or BEM with a linen wrap, and one 12.75 mm shaft. Nothing too fancy on the ringwork.
Custom in the $300-$400 range? They're out there, but it's getting rarer.

From this board, I'd suggest to contact Kevin Varney or William Lee.

I'd also suggest Shurtz (Bob Owen) http://www.shurtzcue.com .

I've been very happy with my Judd Fuller, but you may have to stick to a SP if you want to stay under $400. My Judd is a SP with a fiber joint and a couple of rings, and I believe I paid $340 for it. This cue replaced a Scruggs SP as my daily-driver, so I had pretty high standards going in.

There are alot of $300 - $400 cues out there. Just as everyone has metioned. There all great cues. I personally am looking into a Bob Frey Sneaky for myself. Good luck in your search.

Thank you all for your input. There are a lot of good options out there.

I'll post pics of whatever I end up with.

I really like my Bob Dz sneaky pete and so does every person I have let shoot with it. For 250 it can't be beat, IMO.

Dave, check your PM's......

A Zimmerman Cue

Mike Zimmerman makes great hitting cues in the $200-$400 price range. You'll be happy with the stick he makes. Look up Zim's Rack on the internet and call Mike.
