Best Hitting Shaft is...

CUE BALL INCOMING!!!

Jump in and let us know which shaft you feel has the best hit. Do you like the laminated shafts or do you get a better hit from the standard shaft of a particular cuemaker?

By the way, no need to bash any of the shafts out there, just let us know what you like. Repeats are encouraged if you like one that someone else has chosen.

I couldn't find another thread dedicated to this subject. Good to bring this up again anyway.

I'll start it off with a standard shaft from Judd. I've only hit with two of his cues but both were consistent and hit a ton.

The new laminated Tiger "X" Shafts are excellent and seem to keep getting better and better. Comes complete with one of the best hitting tips on the market...a Sniper Tip. Class act out there in Magnolia, California.

Thanks

Best hitting shaft?

Simple, Factory Schon shaft with Ivory Ferrules.

Best playing and feeling shafts I have ever felt.

My buddy has a pair of them for his old Schon LTD. Thread on my Predator and play a few racks with it then put on of the Ivory Ferruled Schon shafts on and see what you think....

My buddy has an Ivory ferruled Mottey shaft on his Mottey and it is a close as you can get, but still not as nice...

Thanks for your response guys.

What makes you a fan Sleuth? The feedback in general or what?

So you're putting a vote in for both the (1) Schon & (2) the Mottey...and in that order?

My fav. shaft would have to be bill mcdaniels. Stiff as can be and still getts action. His shafts seem to shoot realy straight for me.IMO i also like the mcdermott I2 shaft.:) :)

Predator Shafts

I am a big fan of the predator shafts. I shoot with the Z shaft and wouldn't trade it for anything. It is hard to adjust to less deflection and more spin at first, but once you do, you'll wish you had done it sooner. A huge benefit is that unlike many other shafts, if you need a new one, it will play just like your old one. According to predators website, over 65% of the nations top rated pros are using predator shafts. I don't know how they figure "top rated" , but I do know that a lot of pros swear by them.
Just my $.02

Tough question to ask or statement to make. Best shaft I have ever hit balls with PERIOD was a Tascarella shaft connected to a Balabushka...it was magic. Most consistant shaftwork to me is Searing, nuff said.

Not trying to be a wiseguy but The Best Shaft is....the one you like the best and feel confident with.

I am a tall guy and like long cues, I came across a 60" Southwest that I was sure would be The One....I hated it.

But that is what makes trying new cues so fun, the possibility of finding that perfect hit.

Just my opinion and worth what ya paid for it. :)

Timeless Timber

so far Timeless Timber shafts with tight grain like the ones Keith Josey makes are the best i've played with. of course the hit can be slightly altered to your liking by the ferrule material and tip used.

Timeless Tember is also an ASS KICKING Shaft... Big hit...:)

Lately I've been playing with a Lucasi with their new radial laminated shaft. It is by far the best hit of ANY of the laminated shafts that I've tried/owned, and for the money... there's no competition. I thought maybe I got lucky with the one I got, so I picked up a spare shaft.....same great hit.

As for standard shafts, I've had great luck with Phillippe, Black Boar, and Schon.....all with very similar construction.

imho the best hitting shaft by far is the universal shaft. sturdiness was an issue for me though...which is why I'm not using one anymore.

i just can't seem to put down the 314 shafts....
all play consistent on any of my cues.. i think that's a big advantage... my everyday playing setup is a SW with my matched 314 WITH MOORI M TIP <i think tips make a huge difference too- maybe a new thread if we're bored>..... i do have a real tight grained blonde maple SW shaft that comes close but always reach for the 314... i tried the 'Z' but it's too skinny for me for everyday play...

I wonder, that nobody allready mentioned Richard Black !

All my friends playing that Cue and Shaft are totally impressed !

I don't have near as much exposure to different cues/shafts as a lot of you guys, I'll say that right out front - but I have to say, I'm digging the OB-1 shaft I got a couple of months ago. I had some of my Valley teammates drooling over it a bit last night after our matches were done - "Hit with it", I said. Now a couple of them are scheming how to put together the funds to get one themselves.

hit vs accuracy

There is a need for both the "feel"/hit and accuracy, but if I had to have one over the other, I'm taking accuracy. I can get used to the hit.

With today's shafts that reduce deflection, the search for that perfect hit is more attainable. You don't have to look far.

As I recall, Jason Miller won the Deby City CLassic Bank event shooting a Schon shaft on a Dufferin (sp) butt. Two weeks later, playing with the same cue, he won the IPT qualifier. Having said this, I do know that he got knocked out early in the IPT world 8 ball event.
