Looks are one thing. What's under the surface is most important and what separates the Gold Crown from Brunswick's other offerings. Some will call this blasphemy, but Delta’s (Canadian company, Chinese made) Gold Crown 5 copies which they call the “President V” actually do look & play very close to the real thing. Local dealer sells them & one local poolhall has a batch of them. When I investigated them about 2 years ago, they were available in 7, 8 & 9 ft sizes & were about 40% cheaper than a true Brunswick GC6.
From the OP’s original question, its not clear if the key issue for no GC or Diamond is budget, looks, or both. But in terms of performance on a budget, I think one of these would be the best answer.
Cheers
Yes, absolutely. I personally wanted an older rebuilt GC and ended up with a new GC6 for those reasons. But I have crawled around underneath the Delta’s & played on them, and honestly they do look & play pretty darn similar… I think some of the Asian pro events are played on similar tables…Looks are one thing. IF that's the case, he should take up PickleballThanks everyone. I personally would do a Diamond, GC4, or Anniversary. However it’s for my Brother in Law and his wife is calling the shots![]()
Pickleball is a good an righteous game that will improve your pool game.*IF that's the case, he should take up Pickleball
If you can find one Connely Ultimate would be my choice. Slate is THICK.No Diamond, No Gold Crown. Want leather pockets.
What’s the best new home table for a reasonable price, let’s say 5 grand?
Will any of them play close to a GC or Diamond?
They stopped making them 5 or so years ago. Now only the commercial tables (plus Paragon).I was thinking the same but I don't see the furniture style tables on their website anymore. Do they still make them?
I think if you get a Brunswick furniture style table with superspeed cushions it will play close enough to a GC for home play.No Diamond, No Gold Crown. Want leather pockets.

AMF makes a decent home table, but if I had to have a furniture table it would be a Olhausen. You learn to play around the Olhausen rattle. (the corners like to spit out balls that are hit with speed down the rails no matter how good the ball was hit!)
I have an Olhaussen and have to agree. The cloth is pretty beat up on the facings making it worse but it does teach you to be precise. I've noticed the better I get the less they rattle. It still amazes me how I can miss balls that don't touch anything but pocket facing. I've heard that better pocket facings and new cloth go a long way to curing the rattle.the pockets were only mildly infuriating
