I'm curious what everybody thinks is the best jump/break cue out there? Not just a jumper or break but a combo jump/break. Opinions welcome on this topic.

bump,bump cmon folks!

ive owned just about every break cue under the sun. The best overall playability and price wise to me is fury j/b. Ive owned a few and can't keep one. All seem nice but have downsides. Pred is good but not a j/b and is costly. Xbreakers are costly an sometimes hard to find. J&J makes an ok product but ive seen more then one strip out. Original Sledgehammers are nice but now who knows what u get. Then you have the customs but budget and timeframe comes into play

Inside pool did a poll and fury came in #2 behind predator. For under 150$ IMO its the nuts. Leather wrap gives great grip.

Gl with your search. Hope I could help

Here is a pic of my latest and my last to be honest, this was made by Dave Albrecht and he did an awesome job, jumps great and crushes racks with ease,I just focus on hitting the one ball full and squatting the rock, the cue tears the rack apart. :)

Don't personally own a J/B Cue, but a gent I know bought a Hammer Head off e-bay he does real well with.

For the $60 you can buy a J&J, and thats tough to beat. But for $65 you can get a kaiser J/B, and that was one hell of a breaker & jumper for me. Too bad it got stolen...

I have had the first generation x-breaker, a sledghammer, and the one I have now is a Varney jump/break. The Varney jump/break is the best of the bunch by far. Snag one if you can. Hope this helps.

They are ok...I think there are better choices out there for the $$$$

I think J&J/Kaiser is the same company but I could be wrong.

I agree, a quick 60 bucks can get you a badass J&J jump/break cue that will hang up there with some of the higher dollar J/B cues.

depending on the type of break cue you like, there are two choices in my book.

for a more forgiving break, bk or bk2 predator. (though its not a jumper.)

varney would be my choice for a phenolic tipped j/b.

ive had them all. believe me.

those would be the only two i would put in my bag.

I agree with the J&J, Kaiser and all the rest phenolic tipped J/B cues that are under $100 (probably all produced in the same place in china) are the best bang for the buck.
They get the job done just as well as most high $$$ cue.

If you have the extra cash and want to spoil yourself a little then go custom.
That Dave Albrecht posted by Fast Lenny looks really nice.... and so do some Varney's, Fisher's and Omen's I've seen around here.

I have a J&J J/B (plain maple) and a Varney J/B. The Varney requires MUCH less effort, but when I'm just screwing around on my lunch hour I use the J&J because I can put it together in about 1/2 a second :p

My Varney is a 2006 model so it's not even the new stuff, and still hits better than any Fury or Stinger I've picked up. The only thing that came close was a predator bk2 and it was still obviously lacking. IMO do some searching on Varney cues and make an informed decision considering all factors... including wait time ;)

The new Fury JB's are PRETTY SPORTY. I have lightened them up on the back end and thickended the shaft taper a little and they are much better than before. They were real good before and now they are breaking and jumping monsters.

If we're buying on-line or through some other catalog, is there any way to tell the new models from the old? Sounds like we'd want the new one.

Id say get a seperate jump and break, youll get better sticks like that. besides most cases have a seperate zipper just for the break. so its easy to carry also

The Hammer-Heads are still being sold on E-bay.:)

I've tried that Hammer-Head, it is almost identical to the Kaiser cue except for the metal rings and longer ferrule.
Both perform just the same but the Kaiser is cheaper.... and the Kaiser "sounds" better.

I have compared this two cues side by side ;)
