Guys - moving soon and I am looking to upgrade the lighting above my 9 foot table. It is the Olhausen Champion Pro 3.

Something like the Diamond light would be nice - especially if it came in black.

Please let me know if you have any ideas.

Thanks,
Gerry

the best lighting might be a four light florescent from home depot. four or six foot. on the ceiling. will cover the whole table in balanced light.

I just put a new light over my 9ft diamond table. I took 2 4ft 4bulb lights and mounted them in a box end to end. There is absolutly no shadows on table at all. the good thing is you can paint the box any color you want.

What I did was put a 4 light fixture like the one in your pic down the middle of the table, then I added a 48" double bulb flourescent on each side of the table directly over the rail at the same height. The combo of light washes the table real well without killing your eyes...

Totally agree with this. I made a light for my table using 4 4 foot florescent tubes. Box it in and paint the inside a bright white. Added egg crating and voila.

No shadows on the edges of the table. Great light and didn't cost all that much. It was a couple of years ago, but I think it was between $125-150. You probably could do a little cheaper, it just depends on the wood and materials you use.

Note: I used the four lights as 2 each end to end. So just 2 rows equaling 8 ft.

We have a 6 light chandelier. It provides good lighting for the table and it's approved by my wife. :) That counts for a lot more than some might think. The billiard room is adjacent to the kitchen and the bedroom in our house so it's easy to access at anytime of the day or night.

I built one for my 10 footer. Like a diamond light but oak. Black would be easier home depot or any large store will have the defusers. I bought white and painted them so I could get the look I wanted. I get many compliments on it. Good luck with yours.

pics or you didn't make it sigep1967, Gerry, dougster26,

Some of us don't have the technical expertise or want, to figure out how to take and post pictures here. If I knew how, maybe I would have a fancier Avatar.

So, how does that mean I didn't make it?

The Diamond light is the best option.

It doesn't really mean you didn't build it. I love the threads that show pictures of the pool rooms and tables. Just a little ribbing in hopes of seeing what you guys built. If you can please post your pictures, I'm sure many on here would be grateful.

Oh I didnt build it. I talked a buddy who does wood work into building it :D. If I tried to build it it would have looked like crap lol. It is huge only 2" shorter than the playing surface, it is 98" long and almost too bright or it may be i have been playing in the dark so long it seems that way. One drawback has been I can see I will be needing new cloth sooner than I thought :D.
