Best method to preserve autographed cue?

Hi all,

I have a cue autographed by Earl, Efren, Bustie, Dechaine, Robles, Hatch and Archer and eventually more to come hopefully. Earl's signature has smudged a tiny bit on one of the letters and I am most displeased. Anyone know the best way to preserve this cue? Some sort of lacquer or something?

Clear gloss lacquer. I think you can get it in an aerosol can at most of the home box stores like Home Depot.

This is true but you do have to be very careful as some of the lacquers have some chemical in there that will work almost like a cleaning agent and start breaking down the sharpie ink.
So what you have to do is do a few layers and spay from a distance so a very light coat goes on at a time and let each coat dry. PIA but worth the time in the long run. Hope that helps

Agree. I would use no more than 2 coats over the signatures, and unfortunately, to avoid there being a masked off area around the signatures I would mask off the joint and collar, and also the wrap (if any).

If this is your first time coating over the signatures then I would avoid using a cleaner prior to coating.

Two THIN coats with a 30 minute cure time between coats. In subsequent coatings (after each new signature) use denatured alcohol to clean the shaft everywhere except the signature, then coat as needed.
