I live in Northern NJ (Parsippany area) and was wondering what are the best places to play. Are there rooms with weekly tournaments? Please share any thoughts!! Thanks in advance.

SANDCASTLE BILLIARDS

In Edison NJ i believe, owner Ed Liddawi bar non is one of the best room owners around and takes great care of his customers and his business. Sandcastle is also the home of the Accu-Stats arena !!

The three places I go too are

Sandcastle in Edison
Castle Billiards by Teterboro airport
Clifton Billiards in Clifton

Thanks. I heard a lot about Sandcastle but it's a little far. I used to play at Comet, which was great but closed, and The Grande on route 10 that was very nice and closed.

It's been a while since I lived in that area & played at Comet, but I remember a few others.

Q-Time is on Rt 46 in Parsippany - basically a bar with 8 tables - used to have APA,

Breakers is on Rt 46 in Clifton, they had APA also, and

Shooters in Wayne, they have a TAP league.

Rockaway isn't too far but I was never crazy about the place.

Good luck,

Harry

Rockaway is close to where comet was. Sandcastle is at the intersection of routes 1 and 287 Edison.

Shooters Family Billiards

Monday APA 8 & 9 Ball Team
Tuesday TAP 8 & 9 Singles
Wednesday TAP 8 & 9 Ball Team
Thursday APA 9 Ball traveling bar division

The singles league is like a weekly tournament but you only play one match a week and get paid after you shoot each player once.

There is an interesting pool hall in Washington , NJ called Rack N Roll Billiards. They are kind of a niche place as the average age of the tables is probably about 100 years old and you pick which one you want to play on when you walk in. He has matching cue racks for most of them as well. Many of the tables were previously owned by famous people and he has a paper posted on the wall near them giving their history. It might be worth the drive for some of you. I believe he has tournaments and leagues in there as well.

Players Billiards in Eatontown has a weekly 9 ball tournament on Wednesday nights. Exit 105 off the Parkway. Might be too far but you asked for weekly tournament info so there you go.

+1. Sandcastle also has a Monday night. Steinway has a Monday night and a Wednesday night also, and Cue Bar has a tournament on Tuesdays. Although Queens might be a bit of a stretch, considering distance and toll.

I used to play APA league at Castle Billiards in East Rutherford NJ. Feel free to ask me if you have questions or concerns.
