best option pocket sizing

there is no such thing as best pocket sizing but i am planning to get a GC2 or GC3 in the near future and would like opinion on the size of pockets you would prefer if this is the table going into your home.

i saw a picture of a triple shimmed pocket and i am planning to go with that. approximately 4.25" pockets for the corners and 4.5" sides. also would you change the angle of the pockets to resemble diamond procut? 140 degrees vs 142/143 degrees on the GC's?

not entirely sure of the angles and such but please provide me with your feedback and opinions. thanks in advance.

Table

Send your rails ton mark gregory, he will do all the angles for you. He knows the GoldCrown pockets like the back of his hand.

A GC shimmed to anything less than 4.5 corners just has to many shims. My GC4 is shimmed to 4.5 and it's great for rotation games but in banks or 1P those shims are a pain, you can't bank off them

I would have the rails extended rather than shimming. I would also set the pockets up identical to a Diamond since they are the most popular table and it is likely what you would play on in tournaments.

Been awhile since we talked but I'll assume he still has the same phone number.

Don't change your mind, it's worth every second of your time and every dime of your money.

4.25 with 141 degrees?

That's gonna be a pro player's table.
I wouldn't go tighter than 4 3/8 at 139*-140*.
5" sides.

I wouldn't bother with Artemis cushions.
I'd go with Superspeed.
Artemis is overrated.
Had my table done twice with Artemis and it still doesn't play as well as a really well done GC with Superspeed.

Make sure you hire a really good mech.

what tables out there use a 139 or 140 degree angle?? Gold Crowns or Diamonds do not and most mechanics cut the angles at 141 on the corners and 102 on the sides.

where are you getting these numbers?

Heavily discussed here before.
And discussed with another mechanic locally .

Hard Times do not have 141's on their tables.

Danny is getting a GC. Not a Diamond.

Most mechs cut them at 141*?
Great. Mine was cut to 143*.
A master mech and two assistants didn't have a protractor.

Gold Crown or Diamond =141 on corners and 102 on sides. 60 durometer neoprene facings no larger than 1/4" or proper wood extensions need to be done or the pockets will play terribly.

Can anyone post pictures of how corner and side pockets should be measured? Also can you post pictures of how the angle of the pockets are measured?

I would like to measure the pockets on my Gold Crown 4 along with the angles so I know where my tables stands.

Thanks

Kevin

You measure the pockets from point to point of the pocket opening. You need a protractor to measure the angles as shown in the picture.
