A few years back there was someone that came around to the leagues and bars and was selling 2 piece cues for $20. They had wood to wood joints and 4 spliced points. They came from China. I don't know how much he paid for them but all they needed was a better tip.
Call your local vending company that supplies bar boxes. They'll have a HUGE pile of old (good) ones that often they'll even give them away. It matters not if the shaft is warped as that gets trashed anyway. I've done this and often get shown a stack of 100 or more that are taken out of circulation due to warping...they say "take them all if you want, just get them outta here". Makes a great way to find some of the old Valley's that are often purpleheart or bocote...cut them & take a pass to try and even up the points and you'll end up with some nice blanks.
