Will be in both spots next week, and looking for good places to play.

Prefer 9' tables, and would prefer to not need a Kevlar vest.

Let me know!!!

If you are looking for a pool room in Dayton, Valley Billiards is your place. They have 7 nine foot tables, 4 of them diamonds. They have 2 three cushion billiard tables and a snooker table. It is #3 an hour or pool. Can't beat it and they don't stray away from any action. I like playing there when I can. Hope this helps.

I did not know about Valley Billiards and will check it out next time I am in Dayton (I was there 9 times in the past year).

Another suggestion in Dayton would be Airway Billiards on Needmore Road. IMO, some of the tables are in so-so condition. The side tables have old style felt, which I haven’t seen in a pool room in ages. The tables are older Diamond and Gold Crowns, some of which need some work. The tables are a mix of 7’, 8’, and 9’. The good part is that they often have tournaments and some of the players are pretty good. Monday nights is a $5 9-ball tournament. Last time I was there, Alex Olinger and Billy Thorpe were playing. I didn’t know who they were at the time, but it didn’t take a genius to realize they are special players. Saturday afternoon tournaments change each week 1P, banks, etc. I believe there is an ‘A’ player 1P tournament during the week and I am sure there are other opportunities to play. The people who participate are really friendly. It is a smaller cozy room that I have gotten to like a lot. I have not had reason to feel unsafe. It is just off I-75 in an older, commercial section of town.

If you only have a limited time in the area, I agree with Brent. Michael’s in Fairfield is a great pool room and worth the drive from Columbus or Dayton. It is not far off the interchange of I-75 and I-275 just north of Cincinnati. In the main section of the room, the tables are older Diamonds in top condition. I haven’t been there many times, but the pockets I played were 4.5”, Simonis cloth, and the rails were just right. Even the tables at the far end of the room were in great condition. Enough room around the tables. Good food, friendly staff. They also have a 3C and a 10’ Diamond. One of the better pool rooms I have visited recently. When I grew up in Dayton, we used to think Cincinnati was the other side of the world. When I lived in NJ, my daily commute was longer than that. Michael’s is in a shopping center and should be as safe as any place.

Michaels, it is!!!!!

Will be there next Friday evening...and will probably close the joint down.

Possibly Saturday, too.

Here, I'll just repost what I posted to a kid on Reddit the other day when he asked about Columbus, OH...

I only started shooting again right around New Year's. It was one of my resolutions to get back into the game I loved so many years ago. I'm trying to build a list right now of places around here worth playing at. Places I've played are:

Sportsmen's Billiard Club Inc‎
3965 Sullivant Ave
Columbus, OH 43228
(614) 279-5888

8 Ball Sports Bar & Billiards‎
2100 Morse Centre Rd
Columbus, OH 43229
(614) 436-2948

Players Family Billiards‎
4380 E Main St
Columbus, OH 43213
(614) 239-7665

Those are traditional pool halls, with plenty of tables and you can always find action in there. There's a nice little Friday night 8-ball tournament here:

Front Row Sports Bar‎
2170 W Henderson Rd
Columbus, OH 43220
(614) 442-8331

Front Row is a bar... they have 3 decent Valleys and a brand new Diamond bar box.

I haven't been to these places yet, but I hear Suzi-Cue is in a VERY BAD neighborhood.

Suzi-Cue Pool Hall
1950 N 4th St # L, Columbus, OH ‎
(614) 299-7665 ‎ · suzi-cue.com

Cushions Billiards‎
5986 Westerville Rd
Westerville, OH 43081
(614) 882-5986

Bankshot Billiards‎
3626 Main St
Hilliard, OH 43026
(614) 777-0022

And I also hear that the strip club has a really nice Diamond and they do a nice tournament on Sundays with money added and very few players.

CENTERFOLD CLUB‎
2830 Johnstown Rd
Columbus, OH 43219
(614) 475-8911

Good luck trying! IIRC, Michael's is open 24 hr on Friday and Saturday. Open until 3 AM the other nights.

Shannon Daultons Great Southern Billiard Tour will be at Michaels Feb 22...

Probably be a good number of players there!

we decided to go up to airway because of tourney at michaels

see ya at 6

I gave a lesson to a student in this room just two weeks ago. Nice room with good equipment. Also in a shopping center, so no problems that I saw. Westerville is on the near NW side of Columbus less than a mile off the interstate.
