Best player that worked full time

Oliver Ortmann works full time in the pool room he owns. George Breedlove I think would be the current candidate.

Also Kim Shaw on the women's side holds down a 40 hour a week job and manages to play world class on the weekend.

I'd even go so far as to say that Jeanette Lee puts in well more than 40 hours a week with her appearance schedule.

I think you have the home town right, Indy. John but I would have to go with Brian rather than George. It is close though.

Def Ernesto. All the SoCal guys know how strong he plays -- even more remarkable is when he'll spend a week setting up tables for a big tournament, and after that hard work he'll jump right in a snap off the tournament!

Last year at the Swanee he and his son put in massive hours over at Hollywood Billiards re-doing tables. He eventually lost to Chohan in the semis, but not before snapping off Sambajon. Strong!

Ernesto Dominguez has worked full, full time repairing and recovering pool tables for well over 15 years. And he can still step up and play right there with the best players in the world with little if any practice. Granted he has a tight pocket table at home.

Working Man

"Babe" Cranfield worked, as a vice president I think, for a company the sold or installed Muzac equipment. He had won the Junior and Amateur championships in the 30's or 40's then quit playing. His company encouraged him to play again during the 60's, probably after the "Hustler" made the game popular again. Then he beat Luther Lassiter for the title in 1964.

steve lipsky is the only one i know of in nyc :):) the very foundation of the billiard world would rattle were steve to play full time.

I had always heard

that the Miz was an 8th grade English teacher, and that he didn't turn pro until he was 37, the oldest to do so.

Howard Vickery is a good choice, JR Gay since the road dried up for him. Ralph Carnes played pretty good. Steve Mcannich owned a bar I think. All ohio players;) Thats what I knew I guess.
